I find Lombok, the next island to Bali to be a better place for vacation, if you are going wind surfing. These are the islands of the Nusa Tenggara Barat.
Dunia fantasi, di Ancor, Jakarta Utara. Taman safari, all in Java, Jakarta.
You have to talk about the undiscovered places in Indonesia, beautiful, serene and like paradise lost.
Lake Takengon, in Aceh, is one of the most beautiful place I have been. The air is fresh and clean, and the mountain side view is fantastic. I saw for the first time, coffee seeds, red in colour, and pineapples, tangerines, and many fruits. This is the place of recreation for the Pertamina officers, they get a 20% discount from the room rates and the service.
I like to show you a picture. I went to Banjamasin, it was a town built on the swampy landscape, the airport is made of attap roof, a hole in the roof. The houses were built on the swamp, on stilts, rising above the water. People of Banjamasin were a bunch of sincere locals who want to learn foreign languages, such as Spanish, French, English and Japanese to communicate with the tourist and to make big money if they know how to speak these tongues.

China is scenic and full of culture, Europe is full of artifact and history, Middle East, ancient and beginning of mankind.

I've been to Bali once, and that's quite enough for me as I didn't enjoy the view at all. All I can remember was the place was (at that time before the bombings) full of foreigners, too many. Bali is famous because it's heavily promoted, I think that's the only reason why most people associate Indonesia only with Bali, and vice versa. I enjoyed spending time more in other parts of mainland Java, including Bandung, or taking scenic train rides across the country.

Replying to [James 007]:Looks you are very familiar with Indonesia, Even I haven't heard about Lake takegon...and sound is very fantastic. We have so many places to explore, unfortunately lack of promotions. About the clean and fresh beach you can find too in Karimun Jawa Island, in Jepara Central Java, Bunaken. And good surfing in Pacitan too.I agree with your point of view about Indonesia

Yah, it is lake Takengon, I was privileged to go there when I was commissioning LNG process plant in Blang Lanchang, Lhokeseumauwe, Aceh, North Sumatera, Indonesia.
Around Takengon Lake Takengon is a town located at the central area of Aceh. It is being promoted as a tourist resort since its temperature is about 20_C (68_F), cool enough for a holiday resort. The main feature of the town is Laut Tawar Lake. The scenery is loved and the lake can be used for water sport, such as ski. We can tour around the lake by motor boat or other water transportation. There are caves around the lake slopes of the mountain and the mountain itself is suitable for climbing. A number of hotels are being built to encourage a rapidly increasing tourist trade. The others object around Takengon are a warm water pool at Simpang Balik, Loyang Koro and Loyang Pukes caves by the side of Laut Tawar Lake. Laut Tawar Lake Laut Tawar Lake is located in Aceh Tengah. Takengon, the capital of the region, lies on the west side of this lake, 1,120 meters above sea level, with an average temperature of 20_C. The town is quite cool and is a growing holiday resort.
Picture of Lake Takengon.

What about Solo, your hometown. Is there any tourist attraction?
Solo was the ancient capital of Java, besides Jogjakarta.
Punchak is also nice, about 1 hour drive from Jakarta Pusat.

In Solo name's "Kraton Kasunanan" and Mangkunegaran Palace. Some event to be held like "Jumenengan, Kirab, etc. And in the centre of Batik, you can learn how to make Batik. About 30 km from Solo in Sangiran you can see the ancient fossil( Pithecantropus erectus), Tawamangu, Ketep ( in that city you can see 5 mountains there), and visit the centre of garment in Pasar Klewer. The place was Blang Lanchang, 6 hours of bus ride from Banda Aceh, the Capital of Acheh, at the tip of North Sumatera.
Before the tsunami, the city was very ancient, an exact replica of a Dutch city, about twenty years ago. Its architecture, buildings and infrastructure.
The people, especially the girls are very beautiful, they have a mixture of Indian decent and during the time when I was working in Blang Lanchang, in a LNG mining and processing plant, it was near a fishing village, called Lhokseumawe, somewhere in between Medan and Banda Aceh. This place is not affected by the Tsunami, as it is in the Eastern side of Sumatera, and further South, blocked by the mountains of North Aceh.
Many people died in Aceh, about 200,000 people, of all ages, sex and social status. Before the tsunami, the Acehnese were fighting for separation from the Jakarta Government, and there were many soldiers in Aceh during that time. The whole landscape was reformed when the sea level rises above 20 meters and washed to the entire city of Banda Aceh, washed out all the farms, houses, furniture and people.
There were several other tsunamis after the Boxing Day destruction, and in Nias, an island off the West Coast of Sumatera many people died there.
Many children were made orphans, and they cannot take care of their own needs, so we set up houses and hospitals in Aceh to take care of them. We have a school for the children, and provided them with the necessities for their education. There is a mosque and a church beside it which were not damaged.
I wish to put some pictures here, but hate to be the cause of any slow down in Alibaba's system.

You can make links with hypertext, but not for now.
Just link the pictures from the other host sites with this forum, like what you did to the Lake Takengon.
