I often receive messages where the senders company does'nt have a link to the company profile.
Is that because a scammer has already been nuked on Alibaba or is there some other reason ?

It could also possibly be that the person or "company" has not entered a company profile, because they may not have one.

My question arose when I saw someone contact me with a link to the company profile. When I read the message later the link was gone.
Shouldn't I also be able to search any registered member by company name ?

They don't automatly have to be scammers if they don't have a company profile, normally it is a sign to raise red flak if you cannot se exactly who you are dealing with,
But I just did a small and fair deal with a Lady who sell online in Australia, no company, profile but she send me the money upfront on TT, fair and square accordingly to my business requirement,

In general I tread every inquire with respect and use my own judgment from there and on,

For buyers' benefits, they could send messages without needing to create Company Profile. Moreover, it also might because they had updated their registration information and their postings would be removed temprorarily for checking, when you read the message.

Replying to [Peter_WoodShop]: Not having a link does not mean that the person or company is a scammer. Small starting businesses cannot afford to keep a website at the moment. Secondly, there are established businesses and doing well but is not technologically enclined to put up a website. With the current trend of global business, hooking up to the www becomes a necessity and a status symbol. But there are still so many conservative business owners who prefers the traditional way. It is always a rule to verify it yourself by whatever means you have.
