Quoting from [flying-sikh]:
Hi,
I've been supplying USB flashdrives for promotional purposes mainly in the UK.
I would like to expand my business to the US, but am put off by the fact that every request on Alibaba has a target price for say the 1GB flashdrives for less than U$7.00 !!! where do they get these from? and are they reliable products?
Any comments ?
Many Thanks,
$7.00 is an easy price if your buying 25,000 of them consisering what the chip price actually is. The chip is the single most expense on a flash drive. Everything else that the chip is housed and packaged in accounts for less than 1 dollar. But as the makers of these types of drives buy the chips at 100's of thousands at a time and the process of insertion on the board along with the controler and port atachment, producer mark up is about 44% of cost. Now then, what do you think is the cost of a single 1GB nand chip?, Where would you find out? The problem that far to many seem to grasp is who are you partnered with to reduce your costs to buy? Lexar, PNY, SanDisk, Kingston, ect......all name brands in retail stores they are going for $9.95 a piece.
