Sample payment - a kind of tool to test your potential buyer!
Post 1 of 231
New buyers always ask for samples to check manufacturer's quality level and service credit. If you are a supplier, utilize this opportunity to know your customer.

The first is sample payment, most serious buyers know the regulations and they are willing to pay for the charge. They don't care to pay this if they are really mean to like the samples or cooperate with you. It is a warning if your new customer doesn't want to pay for the charge.

The second is courier freight. In consideration if your samples not very expensive, you could suggest your customer that you are willing to offer free samples but under freight collection. It is understandable and also acceptable for both parties when each other are trend for business.

For those refused to pay for samples and also the freight, just leave it. They mean what you offer isn't worthy to be paid, then how could you still hope they might remember your samples and remember you??

Yes,Samples is a good tool to test good buyer,I agree with that, as I believe that a real buyer will not care about shipping charge in the case of free samples,If you don't leave a little faith to your partner,You will rewarded the same.So Faith is very important in a business,Samples is a good way to communicate with your partner.

i think a good method will be that initially the buyer pays for the courier fee. if they eventually buy the product after modifications if needed then the seller should discount the courier fee from the final bill amount. this is assuming that cost of sample is not significant like in paper printing industry.

Replying to [Raindrop]:Replying to [blue angel 2006]: The decision has to be taken after serious consideration, because we cannot determine one, whether he is a prospective buyer or not.

The advise would be to know about the buyer in full, may be we can use the internet and credit rating agencies. Then to know whether the buyer is interested to buy this product at the prices offered by you. If he is not satisfied with the price, it is not necessary to send the sample.

After these consideration and if you are satisfied with the buyer, we can send the sample at our cost

I think this is more complicated than every one thinks it is. If the order is small in number i have no problem paying for our sample but if we are purchasing thousands of units i feel that the sample or samples should be free as for shipping i always offer to pay for shipping because we feel obligated. If The item is a low cost item i have higher expectations of it being free then if it where a high priced item but if it is a high priced item we do expect the shipping to be free.[em17]

I agree that a good buyer will not worry too much about the cost of shipping.
As for FREE samples, this is a open window, what is the product, is it a rubber seal, cost $.005 or is it a HDtv LCD $800, then of course is the weight and size problem.

In truth a sample is what you will get or is it? [em9]
