Where is the highest fountain in the world?
Post 1 of 19
My photo shows the Jeddah fountain. My current company built this more than 25 years ago and up to now, we handle the operation and maintenance of this fountain. I took this photo with my 1960 vintage film camera. It shots the water up to 285 meters from the tip of its nozzle. [em18]

Replying to [jeddahprojects]: You say this was built when and by who? It may be the highest for a little while but that would depend on the one being built in Karachi, Pakistan

Replying to [Ranger]: Thanks to your comment. When Karachi fountain is done, this will be 500 feet high (152 meters). Jeddah Tourist Guide mentions the fountain height at 853 feet (260 meters) high. This was designed for 285 meters. The nozzle for Karachi fountain will be supplied by OASE (correct me if I am wrong). For your info.[em13][em13]

Does the fountain spray dances with the music?

I love to hear this kind of story.

I found many pictures of the fountain in Jeddah, is it also called King Fahd fountain?

Thank you.

Replying to [Street Smart]:It's nice to know you love fountain stories. I love photography. Jeddah fountain was a donation of the former king to the people of Jeddah, hence, was named after him. The fountain serves to aerate the water in the lagoon, as well, thereby eliminating the possible pollution of the enclosed water. The fountain is provided with another nozzle capable of "dancing with the music" as they say. It was provided also with multiple light color to match the music. But the former king, prefers the single solid nozzle and simple lighting to iluminate the water against the dark background at night. Today, some entrepreneurs are projecting advertisements against the water curtain, which in my opinion, has ruined the beauty of the fountain.[em4]

This fountain has great significance to a middle eastern country, where there is more oil than water.

An water is the source of life, all life forms starts from water. Single stream represents a pillar, which symbolises the presence of God. Exo 13:21.

Replying to [Street Smart]:Hi Street Smart. I agree with you on your quote from Exodus. Whatever pillar it may be, it symbolizes God.

Here's the complete verse: And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:

Amen.

I want to shrink it a little, so it will not take the bandwidth away during uploading.

The difference between a link picture and an embedded picture is the site where the bits and pixels reside.
