A man living in Miyazaki Japan - the world's oldest man recognised by Guinness Book of World Records - celebrated his 112th birthday this week. His secret to longevity? No alcohol, guys!

I wish to live to be over 120 years old, say 120 years and 1 day would be fine. Which means I still have about 100 more years to complete... OK maybe 90 years more to go, allright.. maybe less, anyway I'd want to live to be 120 and 1 day at least, so I can see for myself if Alibaba would still be around.

How about you? And what would be the secret to your longevity.

For get the healty body you must do a healthy life, eating healthy food, drink at least 2 lt mineral water, not too much consime a medicine but convert it with natural herbal medicine, and also do a sport !!and for the spiritual healthy you must have a positive thinking, can manage your anger, never has a revenge with everybody,...and always get comfort and peach of mind in every breath you take[em19]

Though it sounds like you are describing the last dog I had [em2], you are totally right. But sometimes I ask myself, "long life... what for?"

You're right Germex, "what for?". Seriously, to be alive as it is and living a meaningful life today and every single day is more desirable than "just breathing" insignificantly for 100 years or so.

Another way of describing the difference would be, "living versus being alive". Life has to be meaningful; if not, it's just survival.

You are on the right track! "Productive", "satisfying" and similar keywords make all the difference between living and just being alive.

One more pint for the road" That reminds me of my young years! [em3] Now I hardly ever drink anything at all. Ok, a glass of red wine here and there. [em4]

But seriously, I see no benefit in just increasing the number of years of your life. For me it's like eating sugar. It's a great condiment for many dishes, but just sugar alone...? Yuck!
