June 13, 2006 - Las Vegas, USA - eBay's annual user conference was held June 13-15 in Las Vegas, Nevada. For the second year in a row, Alibaba arrived on the scene and made its presence known. Alibaba staff greeted eBay sellers at the airport, and even offered some private chauffeured rides to their hotels.
On the eve of the first day of eBay Live, Alibaba hosted, along with eBay PowerSeller Mollie Hill, a cocktail reception at Harrah's Carnaval Court Bar & Grill. There, guests enjoyed food and beverages served up by Harrah's world-famous "flair" bartenders. Alibaba donated various prizes to the raffle that was held.
A second reception was held at the Border Grill restaurant in the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino for the duration of the eBay Live conference. Guest speakers included Porter Erisman, vice president of international marketing and business development at Alibaba.com, Tekle Sebhatu, an import/export consultant and Skip McGrath, a well known eBay PowerSeller from within the eBay community.
The reception also included three eBay sellers who shared their personal experiences in using Alibaba.com. Several computer kiosks were placed throughout the venue, allowing eBay users to view demonstrations of the site and ask questions to Alibaba staff. And, in true Vegas style, everybody wanted to strike it big in our "Trade or No Trade" game. Prizes included Bose speakers, digital cameras, BlackBerry phones and Alibaba.com apparel. Big-ticket prizes were donated by Alibaba.com's China Gold Suppliers and included items such as personal transporters, mountain bikes, camping tents and mini-ATVs.
All attendees who registered at the reception were placed into a drawing for a free sourcing trip to China. The three winners of the trip are:
