Recently - come across 1 Nigerian buyer (Frauds & Scams) be careful
Post 1 of 22
You just need to be careful trading on the website. Below is my experience:

I posted my product on the website, buyer from Nigeria was interested in my product (fabrics ready-stocks). I find it very suspicious because she aksed me for the prices & confirmed straight away without negotiating. The volume & Qty of the goods are very huge, amounts are close to US$112,000.00.

The cut the story short. We sent samples in yardage for buyer's confirmation. For payment term, our manufacturer asked for T/T amount 30% inadvance, balance amounts 70% within 2 weeks after buyer physcially inspect the goods before loading.

Nigerian's buyer email replied below:

pls get us the legalised invitation immediately to enable us visit you this month. arrange the goods and ship and then fax us copy shipment documents for 100% TT payment, as is because our manager said he cannot send the advance deposit (TT) without doucmentary evidence showing that shippment has been effected,
so, pls ship goods now and fax copy shippment bills for the transfering of the invoice value, we will visit you soonest we received the invitation for arrangement of more shipments and cash payment.

I checked with High Commission Of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria in Singapore about the above matter.

Their advise is payment can be done through bank, T/T payment is not a problem. High Commission told us that import of fabrics IS PROHIBITED IN NIGERIA.

It is for sure the buyer is scams & frauds or to say they are doing things illegally if they do import.

Nigeria is a poor and undeveloped country. The monthly income there is about 30 USD per month.

They wanted to get the invitation to your country, just to be able to emigrate illegaly to Singapore.

Such an invitation costs hundreds dollars in Nigeria.

If you trust them and send it to them, they will become rich selling it to somebody.

They will sell it to a person, and this person will be told to be an "inspector" of the stuff you sell.

This person will be allowed to entry in your country, to work at black, and live much better life... so he will BUY the invitation with his 2-3 years income...

I live in Romania, and 10-15 years ago here was the same. People sold their own property flats to buy a visa and emigrate in Western Europe. Business visas were given ONLY with invitation from a reliable company.

Other important thing: just watch their text, full of illiterate words and mistakes. They are not a Company, but a young kid, hoping to obtain from you their life dream: the visa invitation from a developed country.
