You can not compare whole Africa with some Banana Republics, without law and enforcement against cash !

I think the most of the established countries on this continent, with a functioning infrastructure and Jurisdiction like South Africa, Egypt or Tunesia and Lybia etc., should be trustworthy enough to do business.

Scammers are everywhere, if only one possibility for hiding is there !

Well, there must be many coutries in Africa that are trustworthy but they have not joined alibaba yet. [em3] The Nigerian scams are well known all over the world now and I am still wondering why won't these scammers change their tactic to impress us more. [em3]

Make sure one thing is clear. Whatever type of payment he/she is using. Make sure that the money is already in you account. Then you can ship the item.
That is the point of business.
Right?

Hi,
If you open a newspaper or TV, you'll hear about all those major companies who do good and profitable business with African countries.
I'm not really sure that the trust (or misstrust) comes from countries themselves.
Every country on earth have its frauders. I've never heard about a country well known fo its 100% honest people. And such ranking would be just useless.

With the growth of the internet, everyone on this planet can pretend to be whatever he wants. Difficult to verify everything right ?

Through our webstore we receive a lot of scams coming from 2 type of people.
Type 1: They fully browsed our site and are REALLY interested in the "very good and high quality products" we sell.
They want plasma screens (we don't have those), cellphones (we certainly don't sell such products), and of course computer (no computers in our stock either... we are a plus size clothes brand, but they don't care).
[em5]

They want the goods fast!!! Do we work with international carriers (the major ones)? do we accept international visa and/or mastercard ?
Pleeeeeeeeease it is an emergency.
Since we do not sell blood or medical equipment that can save lifes... you can easily imagine what we do with those emergency.
[em55]
Type 2: They are really interested in the "perfect we sell, they almost cryed with joy when they saw our so beautiful and high quality products....bla bla bla"...
Beside, they are part of a consortium. Before sending us the email, they just had a meeting with all the CEO of the consortium. The result is that over 1 000 of companies have already placed their order, they all want our products.
The first order is huge, very huge.
[em55]
Can we deliver the goods very fast? Do we accept Visa/mastercards? Etc...
[em55]
I can't pretend to be smarter than the scamers. I'm perfectly aware that they'll always have two steps ahead than me.
But what I'm sure about is this:
1) When it comes to business, ego should be put a part. Even if you're 100% proud of the products you sell, don't let a stranger who have never seen them send you tons of empty compliments.
[em55]
2) Even if not all the countries have well organised governmental registration structures, they all have an embassy or a consulate in your own country. Contact them and ask all the informations you need about the company before considering dealing with this prospect.
[em55]
3) Make the bank where your company have its account take its own responsability. Banks all around the world works on the same basis right ?
They won't give you any money for free.
If after few weeks it appears that you're victim of a fraud, even if you have good relationship with your banking account manager, he will look at you as if the word 'STUPID' just have been tattooed on your forehead.
[em55]
So when it comes to ANY transaction (sending or receiving money), just let the bank do ALL the "checking part" before they place a '+' or a '-' into your account.
Help them by giving them the more informations you can (provided by consulate, embassy, or local government).
[em55]
Decent people exist every where, and African countries are no exception. But before seeing hypothetical profits, we should all observe simple rules of prudence and common sense. [em55]

The reader might have noticed that I used a lot of [em55]. It's not that I want to drink coffy though.... It's only because I wanted to jump from line and when I pressed on preview I had all my text appearing on one unreadable block without spaces.
Since I wasn't able to find how to properly make all my skips to appear here are the coffy cups.

I hope that my answer will help some of you.

Replying to [Admin]: Maybe there are a lot of countries that you can trust but I certanly haven't ran accros any of them! Most African (and mid-eastern) countries are a home to scam. Every offer or inerest I recived from these countries were nothing else but a waste of time.
