Replying to [Admin]: The biggest problem I find is everyone wants payment via western union or wire transfer. If you are a first time buyer as I am I am very hesitant and refuse to do my first transaction with anyone like that. There needs to be a more secure form of payment so a buyer can feel safe about placing an order. Once a buyer seller relationship has been established then maybe those forms of payment would be more acceptable to future long term customers.

These are the problems and personal suggestions I have for the Chinese suppliers:

    1. Oversupply - too many manufacturers and suppliers of the same product, causing gluts in supply, high competitiion and a downward pressure on price, compromising the quality of the product.

    2. Fragmentation - the manufacturers of the various SEZ need cohesiion and unity, to share information with each other, to work in cooperation and compliment each other.

    3. Brand names - China has short history of International brand names.

    4. Advertisements - China has conservative ideas about propagating and soft selling their products. Spendings on marketing promotion, and working with US models can help to improve this weakness.

    5. After-sales service - International warranty coverage and distribution network has rooms to improve.

    6. Shipping and logistic systems has yet to realize to world cl *.

    7. IP law and copyright regulations has to be enforced 100%, especially on software piracy and counterfeit brands.

    8. Payment terms need to improve. Work with financial institutions and build up two-way trusts. Due deligence by third party has to be available for big transactions.

    9. Transparency. Published company profile, lists of directors and shareholders, account report briefs, and track records have to be current, comprehensive and authenticated.

    10. Technology and innovation. The interim measure is to work with imported technology, get licensing from brand names and to foster links between industries and technogy institutions and universities in the country. The long term solution is to have Research and Development centres to the different groups.

The issue of trust is a main concern. My company have dealt with Chinese suppliers before and over the years there were many cases of product quality issues. Normally when the dealing just started everything will be just fine and products supplied were according to specification. However, subsequent orders will see that the quality of products supplied deteriorates and the supplier also not willing to entertain our complaints, saying the products quality were actually still same.

Replying to [Admin]: I have had both good and bad dealings with suppliers in China. So, I took a closer look at all the bad dealings. It was difficult to do as I had to hold back the anger and frustration. After looking very closely I had to admit that 95% of the problem was ME! I then remembered a bit of advice I received from a mentor a long time ago. My mentor was then dealing with an "emerging nation" called Japan. His caution to me was the following: Be very clear with your language, do not use "big" words, do not use words that can have 'double meanings', do not try to show your education by using complex words and by all means NEVER, NEVER use singsong wording with an asian or oriental country. An example of singsong: you dealyme good I dealy you good. I never, ever used singsong however I did notice that several of my communications had wording that could be mis-understood or had double meanings. I then did something that would have my father turning over in his grave. I sat down and wrote each of these companies a letter of apology for the accusations I had made and the grief I might have caused. I took full responsibility for the problems. I am happy to say that eight of these companies are now my major suppliers. Eating 'crow' has now turned into Steak!

Replying to [Admin]: In simple words
    1) Trust: They loose there trust by there behaviour
    2) There promise : They comit something but maximum time they can't fulfill it.
    3) If you are old buyer for them, but if there are getting big buyer, they don't care for your order or production
    4) If they give Guarantee letters for the quality or anything : It's a piece of paper, even once shipment gone & u had already paid them then tell them the problems & see there replies.
    5) Once in international business contracts are signed you can't get back to that whether you get in loss of profit you have to follow your comitments, but Chinese suppliers Contract signed they can tell you very clearly can't do, very sorry for this, or may be when you are looking for the shipments, they will stop answering phones.
