Replying to [Admin]: You can tell the difference by the following 2 aspects:

1, Master B/L is issued by the Carrier,
House B/L is issued by forwarders, they use their own title on the B/L

2, See the signature:
Master B/L is stated : "As Carrier"; House B/L is stated: "As agent of / On Behalf of xxx "

First, Master B/L also called Ocean B/L which is issued by xxx Shipping Co. or Line; House B/L is issued by xxx Tranport Co. or Forwarding Co.. Second, one can directly pick up the goods from shipping company by presenting Master B/L without additional charge; for House B/L, it can't be regards as voucher to pick up goods, it must be firstly interchanged to Master B/L from the destination local forwarding company, then by presenting the interchanged Master B/L to pick up goods. It may generate additonal interchange document fee. Generally speaking, only Master B/L is the authoritative voucher of the goods.

The bill of lading (B/L) serves as a receipt for goods, an evidence of the contract of carriage, and a document of title to the goods.
The B/L is prepared according to the information in a dock or warehouse receipt, or in some cases according to a completed working copy of the B/L supplied by the customs broker.

The B/L must indicate that the goods have been loaded on board or shipped on a named vessel,

Master B/l issued by Shipping Line and it must be signed or authenticated by the carrier or the master.

House B/l issued by a freight forwarder or consolidator covering a single shipment containing the names, addresses and specific description of the goods shipped

1. Master B/L issued by carrier. Without states the real shipper and real consignee,in case you have forwarder to arrange your shipment.
Because for carrier shipper is forwarder and consignee is forwarder agent.
So,it will state forwarder as a shipper and forwader agent as consignee.Unless, shipper or consignee asked B/L must be issued by carrier.
Then,it will state the real both of shipper and consignee.
It normally will be send to forwader and never been sent to the real shipper, unless either shipper or consignee request.
For delivery/receivers state should applt to carrier counterpart.

2. House B/L will be issued by forwarder and will always state the real shipper(in condition shipper has their own export licence)if not then it will state company who lend their export licence to real shipper and will state the real consignee too.
It will be sent to real shipper or the real consignee, depend on shipper/consignee request.
For delivery/receivers will state forwader agent.

Hope the above explanation suffice.[em1]
