Dear All,

My name is David Chew and I’m a Malaysian born Chinese. My great-great grandfather migrated from Fujian China to Malaysia more than 100 years ago. My Chinese name is Zhou Zhi Jian, my family is Chew instead of Zhuo is because we followed the pronunciation of Fujian dialect. I am 36 years old married for 10 years and I have two wonderful kids.

I can speak a few languages such as Fujian dialect, Malay, English, Mandarin, Thai and some Cantonese. During my 7 years stay in Singapore I learned how to speak Mandarin and English fluently. The environment there make me learned up these two languages very fast as everybody are using these two languages.

Many of you may know me as David Frencken as I used this nick name in Alibaba’s forum, Frencken Malaysia is the name of the company that I work for now. It is a Dutch based multi national company making high end machine for medical, analytical and semi conductor industry. Due to my job function I have to travel to Europe frequently and have to learn up things such as new processes fast and to teach it our staff and suppliers.  It is a quite a challenging and interesting job but very stressful as most Asian do not have a quality mind set and the skill set as the European and I have to teach and change them.

I have started using Alibaba since beginning this year as I was under pressure to bring certain cost down by means of buying in China. Sourcing in China is easy but to get the Chinese material qualified and convince our customer that the Chinese material is alright to use is very tough. Right now we are still at a lost as we have not really phase in the Chinese material in the mass production mode yet. But I will not give up and will continue working with those who are willing to work with us in long term. I believe one day I’ll find some good suppliers and have a significant saving for our company.

By the way I’ll be visiting a supplier in Taipei middle next month and I'll extend a few days there for my personal vacation, any tips on great places to visit in Taipei?

Thanks.

Because of your screen name and the windmill in your avatar I thought YOU were Dutch, not your company. Anyway, nice to "meet you".
