The cost of seafreight from China to Europe is rising fast!
Post 1 of 12
In March from Tjianing to Genova was 2000 USD/20'', now it's 2800/20''.
How the **** the cost of the shipment can increase of a 40% in some month?
Frankly speaking for some type of product, China is becoming not convenient.
Any comment from your experiences?

It is simple case of demand exceeding supply. So shipping companies try to take advantage of it.

As you rightly said, China is not the final destination for all products due to its geography. You can always source from other Asian countries for faster deliveries. Let me know for which products you are facing problem?

Replying to [David Frencken]: That's right! You should choose a best forwarder and a best loading port for you. Different port or forwarder offers different price.

The prices of the shipping companies almost increased %100 when compared to the last year, and it is also bothering me too. I know it is the basic principle of trading; the prices will rise when the demand is too much but those shipping companies act like trust. I sometimes wander what would be if everybody could stop using them for just one month...

Replying to [Ziomik]: I'm not surprised. Even the price of the products that I buy from China is ever increasing. I try to have backup, which means that particular company is not the only source I have. You should also source for other suppliers, forwarders or maybe change the port of discharge. Find out the reason for the increase and you will know how to go from there. Good luck. [em1]

Ciao, sono d'accordo..sigh sigh.

anyway, if you need help, we are using a new forwarder agent that has been promising us better rates, but depends on the kind of items you ship.
We do quite some containers from Tianjin to genoa and also from Dalian to genoa.

Keep in mind those north China ports are always jammed with heavy industry products as well and this doesnt help us.

If you let me know what goods you buy I can help you more.
