Difference between a distributor, a wholesaler and an agent?

Distributor: Manufacturer send the goods for distributor and distributor sell the goods on behalf of manufacturer.
Wholesaler: Buy the goods from some manufacturers and sell to retailsalers.
Agent: Agent promote for manufacturer's goods and find right buyers and get commission for each sale from manufactuerer.

A distributor is a person that helps the manufacturer to get/ or distributes his goods to the wholesalers who in turn sale to the retailers which are the common petty trades on the street that sale in singular unit.
A wholesaler is a person that buys goods in a very large quantity from the distributors and in turn sales to the retailer in a smaller unit, that they would be able to buy.
An agent is neither a distributor nor is he a wholesaler what he does is to scout for customers, when he gets them he now act as a middle man between the manufacturer and the buyer and at the end of the day they collect there commission or percentage. They don?t usually have any investment on the business.
Note that the distributors are the middle man between the manufacture and the wholesaler. In some cases, for some company they prefer to do the distribution them self?s there by getting to the retailers them self.

A wholesaler buys usually the products locally and distributes into the retail market. A Distributor:
A company which has an agreement with Principal company or factory to import and sell their products under the original brand or OEM brand within its region of trade agreed upon. Their customers may consist of retailer or end user.
A Wholesaler.
A company which imports product in bulk quantity and sell to local or export market with certain minimum bulk order. Their customer is retailer and not end customer.
An Agent.
Agent usually is an appointed company by the principal company to promote and sell principal's company product under its original brand. Principal company is obliged to train the agent of all product knowledge to ensure that the agent is able to provide after sales service to its end customer. Or, an agent can be a commissioner agent which introduces the principal company products to its customer within its region of trade and earn commission on every deal.

A distributor says itself handles distribution of specific items in an area.
A wholesaler sells items to other companies.
An agent represents a manufacturer or a business area where the manufacturer wants to concentrate on the production.
I think the reason for confusion or lack of definition is that only few companies are 100% in one category of these 3 terms.
For my own sake relative to the general agreements on the definitions, I'm a little of all three.
So I think it's difficult to place someone in one category. Example: isn't a distributor or an agent also a wholesaler !

Wholeseler -Buy at a lower price then dist' but bigger volume ,sell to distributors [Shops or Individuals or els,]
Agent ,representing a company ,get a small sallery or comissions or a combination of the 2.But he can't work representing 2 companys with same products,unlike a Wholseler that with the power of money ,can do as he please and actoaly play companys to get the best price. Last ,If u ask this I figur maybe you need to start as an a small distributor ,then with expiriance find work as an agent .then marry the boss doghter .

Replying to [Admin]:They all do the same thing , That is sell your product. From the Product point of view the DISTRIBUTOR would take the product and spread it over the market, the WHOLESALER would have customers who would need the product, he would take the product and distrubute to his fixed customers, the AGENT would get orders for whhich the product would be made ready and delivered. Terms and Conditions would vary according to the product and type of seller.

Replying to [Admin]:agent is that one who have the main contact with the manufacturer and could buy for others and for himself and could give distributions to other company throuhg him, and whole salers also get goods from him
distributor ,the one who is distribute the goods and buy it from the whole saler or the agent.
wholesaler the one who get big bulks from the agent and buy it for distributors.
