People living in different places have much different liking in dressing, as well as the body shapes are not the same.
so what about overseas clothes market for chinese products? and what steps these factories may take to expand their overseas market?

Replying to [jane hu]: I have quiet a extensive experience in the Garment business here in Europe, specially the Germany, and Austria. We used to be wholesalers and Retailers.

About 10-15 years ago, the market was very good here in Europe and pretty much around the world, during this time we used to be Wholesalers, and chinese products were not so prominent, or at least people didn´t know the about them, it was more of a secret.

Chinese products are not so bad, the major problem with chinese goods though is mostly the sizes, and cut of the goods, as well, wrong description of the material, a lots of good looking items, but they don´t last at all, mostly after first washing the goods lose their looks and color.

But there are also expensive items, that are good, its just a matter of price, now here is where the problem starts, if I go out and buy a good quality jean from china, which is ofcourse expensive, I face the problem, if introducing a no name brand, whereas I can get a branded and good quality jean for the same price, or just a minor price difference, with the low quantity option, which I don´t have on the chinese product.

Additionally, there is another major problem nowadays, over the last 5-8 years we have switched to the Retail Market, since wholesale is no good anymore, because now there are so many chinese every where, that they broke down their own markets and exposed them to everyone, whereas before the market was a secret and high margins where attainable, now obviously the garment market is suffering of over exposure of the manufacturers and therefore low margins.

Then there is the problem coming up, which we and most of my trading collegues are facing now, that now the same chinese traders who forced the wholesaler out, are shifting into retail, its obviouse the price market is being broken down, eventually most of the market will shift from china, because the market is over exposed, and chinese themselfs are breaking the market locoally around the world, currently there is almost very low margins to get from chinese products and down the line, there are not going to be profits.

Chinese products are not bad, but remember, that if you offer a product to cheap into the consumer market, it will be rejected, nowadays, because chinese products have their reputation due to the over flowing of cheap products. Nowadays people demand quality and gurantee, how can I as a trader give gurantee on something that I can´t even get margins out off.

Down the line, chinese are breaking their own business by overflowing the market, and not stream lining the business, to selected articles, and areas.

The funniest thing that I noticed, is when I went to china itself, and went into the wholesale market in Guang zu and other places, the prices where higher then Europe, I think something is not going well here.

Replying to [Handson]: And that is where the problem will start, because now the europeans have gotten used to the cheap prices, the price is starting to go up, although there is now better quality coming from china, but people don´t buy, whereas in China the price is going down now, their will more buyer in china itself, but not europeans.


Also don´t forget, that china is a manufacturer, and that manufacturers, have a different cycle then traders, since the produce the goods, they also set the price, its the trader who has to adjust himself accordingly, so since the price is going down in china, in europe we will see the effect by end of next year, when the overstock from china ends up here.

Thanks for you brilliantly analysis,I think the price will go up soon due to the tight supply of material,the rising of living cost and the pressure come from the outside (usa, eu), more and more factories will have to face the responsibility they take, of course, the chinese's product is still cheaper that most of developed countries.Regarding the chinese themselves broke down the market you mentioned.I think is not the chinese problem,it is the results of economic regulation.As you see, why I am here can so convenient to communicate with you,it is just because the internet developing.Nowadays the people all round the world could exchang their mind and share the information each other so eaily,they also could resouring throught the internet.For most of business man,I think there is no exception they will try to get quotations from different manufacturers,you can not ensure that all of them quote the same price to you.

As a South African our customers go mostly for cheaper clothing even if the quality is not good. So at this moment chinese goods are still wanted.
