Which is most important for buyer when doing business with supplier?
Post 1 of 25
Dear buyer, as an supplier, we would like to know, when you do business with supplier, what is your most attent?? Quality?? Price?? Or Credit standing??
Yes, we know all above three is very important for a good supplier,
and we always insist on them.
But which is most important for buyer??
Bcoz when we make business with some abroad customers, some of them emphasize good price, but some emphasize good quality.
As we all know, if very low price, then quality can not be sured;
If good quality, then the price also be higher a little.
So what is the buyer most attent??
I think maybe we can have a discuss here, and get good suggestions from buyer.
Thanks!!

For me, as a Buyer AND a Seller, Quality is number 1 and price is number 2.
I would much rather pay (and charge) 2-3 cents more per item, and get the quality I require, rather than get rubbish quality in order to save a few cents.

Dear friend, thank you for your idea.
Yes, you are right. I also think like this.
If rubbish quality, although it is very cheap, but i think it will be no market after some times.
If good quality, although it is a little higher price, but for long term the market will be bigger.
I think the market is evidence.
Am i right??

1) willingness of the supplier to work long term, there are a lot of suppliers not so willing to built sample or small batch for qualification. There is a Chinese saying don't use a dog eyes to look at your potential customer. The customer maybe testing you with a very small qty as they do not know how well your company can perform.
2) technical knowledge - I have received a respond in the buying leads from a supplier making aluminium bars, I ask her to quote a few different sizes, instead she ask me back what is the weight of my total RFQ, aren't the manufacturer know to calculate the best? This type of sellers are considered as high risk of scam or high risk of screwing up,
3) how can you convince buyer that your company can deliver quality product with a slight higher price? buyer only know you from your website the rest is up to you to present? The one to present the best normally draw the attention.
4) willingness to work on small quantity and go extra mile, I normally test suppliers on these, there are so many in coming quote from a buying post. How do a buyer suppose to choose from? I know a few suppliers in alibaba are losing millions of sales from our company as they do not want to make a small sample size.
5) those asking for payment in advance will be filter out by me for our company.
6) Know your product well, before you ask any questions to your client, ask your self if it is a stupid question. If you ask silly question the buyer will think that you are not professional, they will try to avoid you because they worry that you will screw things up.

As a trader (i.e both buyer and seller) I'd consider quality first, then price. But supplier must also view relationship with traders long term, therefore price has to be competitive. Otherwise no one will buy the product that I invested in and have to re-sell in the market. It has to be mutually beneficial.
On the other hand if a buyer is the end user then my guess is price would be the first consideration, then quality. It all depends on what the buyer is really after.
