Why does seller do not accept credit card payments?
Post 12 of 17
Hello Part 1,
I thought the posts under this category are very good and worthwhile answering from a different perspective.
First of all businesses, companies and websites that accept Credit Cards and Payments online are not just specific to the retail market and their websites anymore! That change begun a few years ago!
Wholesale suppliers who want to sell worldwide have recognized that their buyers expect them to offer this type of payment option or the buyer will go somewhere else. So I suppose the argument is whether the Seller really wants new business, as its a fact that those companies that dont offer this type of payment, will loose these types of buyers and yes the number of these types of buyers is very high.
It is now a worldwide expectancy to offer this type of payment option!
I could give you a list of hundreds of companies who sell wholesale products that accept Credit Cards and Payments online and they sell a wide range of products. But I will give you an example of one myself.
We use to import and sell Perfumes, Fragrances, Cosmetics and Skincare products into both the retail and wholesale market worldwide. All of our wholesale business transactions were done using Credit Cards, we even purchased from our suppliers using Credit Cards! Accepting Credit Cards and processing them online is instant, which actually speeds the process up. We offered everything from Credit Cards and Online Processing to TT, LC, Western Union and Paypal.
Obviously for the larger transactions that run into the hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars then going through LC etc
is the way to go, once you have established a business trust with your buyers.
As for businesses that sell smaller orders, like for example 10, 100 or 1000 Units of a product that doesnt run into hundreds of thousands of dollars, you need to look at using online Credit Card Transactions. There are 10 of thousands of buyers that fit into this category and they want to see this type of payment option.
You need to remember do you want these buyers and do you want to sell worldwide! Do you want to make more money from these buyers who want this option? Or do you want to give their money to a competitor who will offer Credit Card Payment Options online.
Now I wish to address some of the posts above in the post:

Most sellers here are manufacturers / factories / wholesaler so do you think of settling your bill for a container of goods US$50,000 by credit card.. Even if it is not that much - for say US$1,000 , the wholesaler will have to pay the credit card company , etc and thus the wholesaler is going to sell to you as a retailer and then you will find the cost to be closer to what you can buy in your retail shop ..
Please try to use some common sense so that scammer will not see you as a potential target to cheat. Even your credit card # , name and code is good enough for the scammers. I am sure you have heard of people who have their credit card being used and their claims that they have not even being there so do work smart..

Here is the common sense my friend. I know marketing and there are thousands of people who are legitimate buyers, who want to pay 1 thousand dollars or 10 thousand dollars using their Credit Cards. They are buyers who want to spend money with companies.
If you cannot see this, then you are the person with no common sense, as this is a fact.
Do not insult me when you do not know what buyers want! If you do not want to do business with these buyers, then don't. Keep your insults to yourself, until you know the facts!

One more thing I should point out to you. All major banks that are Credit Card Issuers in countries such as US, UK, Aus, New Zealand, Germany and other EU, give you have 30-90 day refusal of payment on receipt of Credit Card bill.
That means you can dispute any transaction on your Credit Card, usually the cost to dispute the transaction can be anything from $25 USD to $90 USD depending on your bank. Most Credit Card buyers know this. That is one of the reasons for them insisting on Credit Card Payments.
Again find out your facts first......Anthony

I would agree with you 100% if we are talking about dealings between most of the western markets but here we are on an open market where scams , cheats etc are common for those who DON'T know the rules. We try to help them to avoid being cheated and scammed and with amounts greater than US$5000 - it's cheaper to use L/C or even TT payment as other forms of payment , we often charge back to the customers.
If you read some others who have being cheated and complains - you will find that most do not know the 'rules' outside their own country and using the standard of New Zealand and applying it to Nigeria - well , knowing Nigeria's intergity for scamming , I know the odds of me being cheated will be a lot higher in comparison to being cheated by a New Zealander...
I too have being cheated but not by Nigerian but by an Irish man in London where I had my own retail / wholesale trade. So should I be more worried about an Irish in comparison - heck NO and I just have to now learn to use common sense to avoid being conned by con artist. That's why I call for some common sense here so that they know they should now apply their own rules and assumption but to ask and clarify that what they are asking and negotating is what they have in mind. To make this easier - a Nokia N73 model is the same thru out the world from a legit seller but a "COPY" Nokia N73 is NOT the same - NOTE - "NOT" for the "copy Nokia N73" looks exactly the same but cost half the orginal - do not have the Carl Zeiss lens / no Bluetooth , No special chip that moved the pictures and I don't know what else is missing plus is illegal but to me I wouldn't know all this if not for a customer who want me to check this item out...
I trust I have clarify my stance to all who are asking silly questions like - I want to buy the original Rolex from China at 30% of retail price or those I am new in the export trade , etc is just like writing an open check waiting for luck to see if it goe to an honest guy or a cheat..

Replying to [gbalbz]:Maybe L/C is not allowed for that company.Maybe for the govement rule maybe for the cost..In china for small amount we normally didn't accept L/C.That not means we are not honest suppliers. But sometimes t/t make more efficiently..It's my point..
