I have a supplier telling me that he lost money using Escrow.com. Because of that he wants me to use Western Union. Relax!!! I will never use Western Union.

I just wanted to know if anyone has had any problems with Escrow.com

I used it twice for deals over $25,000.00 USD without any problems

I aim to post a full article comparing escrow with LC mode of payment. But, my conclusion (which I may share right now with the forum members) is that - everything said and done - escrow compares poorly with LC.

Before the escrow supporters chew my head off, I request them to wait till I post my reasons. Then blast me by all means, if you wish to!

Mr.  Bose let me say this.  I too had never used www.escrow.com until I made those two purchases.  But I did make them because before I was to put my recommendation in for the service I had to try it.   One recommendation for your article would be the costs of opening an L/C below $10,000.00 and with regards to inspection of products before shipping as many of the members do very small buys at this level and below.  Thanks for your participation on this board.

I will speak in english for the bemefit of everyone. Most of the honest indonesian sellers or buyers usually open bank account in singapore, just a few km from batam indonesia. Most internet payment go through singapore or australia for indonesian traders.

No system is perfect and there will always be an element of risk associated with international trade but I believe that escrow.com is a great alternative for many buyers and sellers.

From a buyers point of view I cannot see any downside to be honest.

From a sellers point of view I can see some minor problems such as one that was reported here on alibaba by a supplier a while back. The claim was for an incorrect shipment quantity which is difficult to prove unless carton packing is photographed by supplier and weights carefully caculated and marked.

What did the 'supplier' that you are dealing with suggest were the problems with the system? Seems to me that you may be dealing with a scammer who knows that the protection of escrow.com will stop him from getting payment.
