Hello, everyone. Some people are not used to chatting with the people who have never met in the real life, let alone trusting them; but in nowadays global economical environment, usually you have no choice but risk to trust people who you met on line if you wanna make a deal.

So the question's: How long will it take you to trust your on-line partner? or Do you really trust the people who you met on line?

Trust will take time, even when you get your order you may still feel little unsure the next time and more so if you send more money, as with suppliers you need to trust buyers in some ways but rememer they are the ones that will pay money to you upfront first.

But why many people go into business with out making basic checks as use their Due Diligence i don't understand, if you don't have enough details on the buyer or supplier then don't deal with them.

In fact my idea is always to try visit any companies i deal with first, this is Chinese and English and some in Europe like Italy, we have visited 95% of them first.

We do this for our own buying and also we help clients to check suppliers before they start any business with them.

We have new cleints in UK and they want us to take them to China this Sunday and travel to many suppliers and get samples and set up new container orders, for many people this is a large cost but if you are real about exporting from China this will be the best start.

To meet the suppliers and for them to see us is the best way, we can have more trust this way.

international sales can be great but we all need to do things in the right way and not run into the business, think of long term business.

It is a bit of a gamble and my first import i did my due diligence but did take risk with their email/photos... a yahoo mail and yahoo photos for pictures of stock.

Communication was good and payment by bank transfer and company listed with alibaba for years not months.

I figure that small businesses in other countries do not all have access to private computer and my packages have arrived in good condition.

I pay for samples with western union but bank transfer for larger order.

Alarm bells would sound if seller has goods too cheap, has EVERY item i want in stock, can supply EXACTLY what i want.... a real supplier will not be able to please you in every regard!

PS... Ahoo... i would not like business to email me and use 'wanna' in an email message... sounds too casual, like chatting to friends, business partner would say 'want to'... I am happy to deal with people who use english as second language (it is very good to be able to write two languages... i have tried learning cambodian and it is VERY hard to learn another language) and dont mind poor english but not slang/internet chat shortening of words for business.

cheers

I think it isn't easy to know who is your on-line partner but simple phone calls helps me trusting my on-line business partner. [em3]

As everyone uses free e-mail accounts I guess it is not anymore a good way to judge your partner.

Paying strange fees, sending payments to personal bank accounts and / or resquest to easy and urgent trades are small details that you will notice.

Here on Alibaba.com we can find some good reading about FBI steps and good tips to prevent scammers.

Good luck everyone[em20]

Trusting is a long-time "war" between the clients and you on the issue of benefits! As the saying words "To see is to believe",for myself, business is business, can added by the common tips in the real life.
As for your question,it will be improved by the real times!Luck is an element for this problem

trust take time,it is right!
you said you will visit the supplier before placing order,
but i think it is not reasonable, because its fee is huge, sometimes, the fee to vist the supplier will be more than profit in this business,so the small company is not able to do in such way!
i think there are trust in all place,i trust my friends, and we should trust this world.
wish you happy everday!

I don't trust anybody online, especially first contact. Unless I have ways to verify that they're legitimate businesses, and even then I'd conduct further research as to their past business transactions by asking and verfiying referrals. I used to deal on face-to-face basis with some Indonesians businessmen who later were proven opportunists and not, or rather didn't have the capacity to, thinking long term. Some were downright scammers.

It takes time to trust people, we try to "read" emails, and phone conversations.
