Does anyone have any special things to be aware of when trying to find a honest reliable buying agent to accompany me on my buying trips? We have been going to the trade fairs over the past 6 years but now have suppliers which we want to visit outside of the trade fair times and need a good english speaking person to take us around to our suppliers factories.

You need to have someone you can trust so the need for referances is a good idea.

To have good background in the export and import market and retail can help too.

English speaking sure and with Chinese speakers to help, offer the help with agent work, quality checks, and verification can be good.

b.punctual

c.diligent

d.know the business trend and always think on the client side

f. always smiling and know how to establish good relationship between buyer and suppliers here .

g.honesty , very important here as there are some hidden comission between your agent and your suppliers .

Before you make your choice , try to request them to provide some client references here . More client references , more relible and more credit .

Replying to [Ozbiz]: As a buyer to visit factories in other country
language understanding is a big problem. Some factories don't have
qualified interpreter to perform the job. Next time if you come to
China for a business trip, you are welcome to contact me either I
can arrange a good hand for you or I would like to be your helper.
