TrustPass membership is provided to legitimate companies registered outside China (mainland) only.

A Person who wants to use trustpass to cheat people can make much money with this so it is not hard to spent the money to get registered as company. Especially as chinese citizen its not much money. and also it is easy to get have a phone line

   There are cheaters in every country. There are some leaks in every law and registration   process. But why we can live peacefully, it is because most of people are good men.

It is quite same with business.We can not promise 100% TrustPass members are for real business.But we can say 99% TrustPass members come here for real business.

And to make sure the safety of trade ,we suggest every member to choose safe payment method.

You get the wrong idea for registering.
Ask the alibaba staff how you can register and how they will verify you, and before register you need to pay to alibaba RMB40,000 at least for the nomal service member. You would know that how hard to be a member.
And does a treater willing to pay such a big amount and sure he can treat more money from clients. once he treat clients, clients can send message to alibaba, and his account will be closed. and RMB40,000 throw into the sea.

Replying to [Elecpack]: Not true, I got scammed by a TrustPass member and informed Alibaba but they did nothing. I would have to go to Hong Kong and win a court case against this person and provide proof of this to Alibaba before they would consider closing this company's account.

So because it is not practical for me to do this this company still operates on Alibaba even though they scammed me. The truth is that the TrustPass membership is only useful to the scammer not the buyer.

I think this process of first paying and then get varified is correct.

I am a trust pass member, and was positivley surprised when Alibaba, actually checked my company and call me up as well as the registras office, I fee more comfortable know this that every member gets checked.

But still, like the german fellow in here said, there are still frauds running around who are willing to go to any extend.

But at least the majority of the frauds is stopped during the trust pass membership process.

There are tough, as I noticed last year, some companies, who have given a fals address on the alibaba platform, and are registered as trust pass members. How do I know this?? Well, first of all I made a habit of visiting almost every supplier in my near vacinity or if I am traveling to another country visiting those members places on the way to my destination. Alots of them don´t exists or have closed their companies or the owner is totally something else. Next thing you know they suddenly disappear from alibaba itself.

Anyhow, its not a 100% security, since nothing is 100%, but atleast it cancels out a lots of small crooks at getting at you.

So I aggree with the system itself, but it should also further more ask for ID copy of the owner and a picture, which should cancel out some frauds just of having the fear to be recongnized.
