A question for all Chinese members of the forums. WINNERS
Post 1 of 77

Dear all,

I have noted over the last 6 months or so that many many more of our Chinese members have been asking a lot of what must be considered very basic questions.

I am sure many of us would like to know (at least I would) what type of training Chinese companies might be giving their new employees to help them gain export orders.

Please tell us your story of how much training you were giving by your bosses when you fist started your job... It would also be good to know your age and education level. It just seems to me that a lot of the Chinese members seem to be thrust into their jobs weith little or no training.

****100MVP for "best" answer (there might be more than one)****

Award 100 MVPs ( What's this? )for the best answer.

Hi foow,

Sorry i am not Chinese but would like to give my opinion [em20]

We understand that so many people will start to work for factories in China, some will enter in to the production lines or warehouse but the wage for these jobs are low to the west but the Chinese people would work hard and earn money for their family.

The other people would start as sales people in the office and in most cases because they are new to the roles they would start on a basic wage and sure they would get commission for any sales they make.

The problem is for the sale person is the type of products they make and the market at the time, how do the factory get their buyers?, and this can cause low or high sales for the sales team.

Some products are priced at $1 per pcs and some at $10,000 and so not one is the same, and if the factory has the right certication well they can sell to buyers worldwide, but many factories can not do this and so the market for them is small.

All these can be a problem or not for the new sales person, and if the company is big they would have a training program in place and the sale staff would get the correct leads and with backup, i have seen some small factories that give training and help to the sales team but this is not the norm.

Most should have a sales manager and this person would guide them through the basics, and the ISO cert should play some part within the office.

Most sales people come direct from university and with very good reports and the factories like because most would speak some English. age around the 22 mark, so this is their first job, if the sales person has more background the wage would take this in account.

Remember many people have to work away from home in China and they would not see their family for 6mth at a time, so these people would stay within the grounds at the factories, most factories offer some type of living for the sales and office staff.

I think this is a good post as i know from my business in China that the sales people would learn more and do much better with some training, and the fact is the factory would increase sales too, this is good all round, i hope all the factories can take note, [em17]

I work in a factory. I'm twenty- three years old. It's my first job. I graduated from university this June. I've worked here for more than four months ( I started my work this April.)

I'm the only one who sell our products to the international market.
I'm the only one who know how to write, read and speak English here.

At first, I can't quote myself, so everytime when I got an enquiry, I need to let my boss tell me the unit prices. Now, I can quote myself.

I need to learn by myself most of the time.
There are lots of professional English words I didn't know, but no one can tell me, I need to search a lot and learn from the Internet --- That's why I always turn to Baidu for help now. I found it's very useful to me! [em7]

I am being learning now and forever!
I know I can do better and better! [em20]

We are almost in the same situation. The only difference is that I just started my work in July. Everything in here is so strange, especially the language. I can speak English, Mandarin and Miannan language very fluent. However, most of people in our company speak their native language in work, even when they speak in Mandarin, I still can’t follow them well. What is worst, no one can help me, I must learn everything by myself, about the prodcuts, about trading. I know I can do better and I will do better.

Replying to [Foow]: Hi Foow, I'm very interested in your topic as well as I'm sure the others are the same.

Well, it really depends on what kind of job you get, as in the factory(as a sales person), I really doubt that we would have training courses at the begining of our work and we have to learn ourselves in our ways. Somehow we are forced to get use to our job & company within 1-3 months, otherwise you can pack & leave. You may go to night school and learn if you want.

We hardly have training courses if you are in a factory, perhaps you may do if you're working at a tourism company, real estate company & those whom needed perfessional skills to serve people.

Well, I'm 21yrs old and been working for this company(my dad owns it) since 2004. I have had 3years education in NZ and currently taking 2years off of Uni in Korea(South). Will not go back and will be transferred to a UNI in Canada.

Hope it helps!
