May I add whilst that I have been at it for a few years, it takes more than Ailbaba to get orders.
I am in the furniture business as a consultant and we all know how difficult that is
The point is -and that is valid for manufacturers too- that I visit at least 6 trade portals a day, as I live in Asia I travel and visit factories in China, Indonesia etc. on a regular basis, go to the trade shows, bump into the buyers, talk to the manufacturers, post on forums, go to USA and Europe twice a year for face-to-face meetings, visit retailers etc, the list goes on.
I for one would never buy without seeing the producer eye to eye, audit his factory and discussing his terms.
You'd be safer to buy through wholesalers in your own country, one thing is for sure, buyers won't come to you, you have to get them win over their trust, Do Know Your Product(that's where most fail) and be professional in your manners.
If you do all that you will have success!
Cheers,
Bert
