Dear sir. I'm sorry to hear about your problem. There is no easy way out of this.
The same is going on with every commodities or products in the world. Working as the marketing consultant for a palm oil manufacturer, I also face the same problem.
However, there is a few ways that you can lower down any risk which will safe your company being labeled negatively.
1. Informed the buyer, quotation that you quoted is only price indication because all prices are base on international market price. They must be informed that all the base products to produce are bought according to market price and you will not be able to go around it.
2. As a supplier, you must know about the trend of the market and buyer must be informed about this. For tangible goods, there are validity dates and buyer can use that to send in their orders. But for products such as steel, I dont think you can use this. However you can quote them an average of market price with the validity for a certain dates.
3. Last but not least, some company just want to know what is your price. Asking for best price shows that some of them are not truly in need of buying the products. They just want to see what is the current price. Those who fax and call u about their price should be a priority. Those who email and asking for price, send FOB price as this will ensure that you will not waste your time to source for the shipment. And lastly, forget those who asked ridiculous price because these are just time wasters.

Replying to [davidvip1983]: Hey David, if he is a genuine buyer, he knows the market situation. We also have buyers and raw material price is increased and we have to increase price..
For the Raw Material you have to get raw material price for 10-15 days validity and you tell your customer this price is valid for this certain of time. if he confirms proceed..

Replying to [starian8387]:We take an average of 2-5% DUE TO HIGHER Costs, Feul, wages, raw material etc

It's the same with Silver and Gold. What I do is price the Spot on Monday and let it run for the week than reprice the following Monday.
Many people that visit our Web-Site always ask"Why don't you have the prices with your product"?Just from that I know that they are not real buyers.A person who knows the jewelry business would not ask that question they know that it's up and down everyday.

Hi,we are in the same line according to what you described .
We are a precision casting company. The price for Nickel is indeed not stable, close to 300,000RMB/ton.There is a wide range of rising compared to the same period last year.
How to deal with it under this situation?quote the price at the current market price of raw material, stating to the customers that it is effective within ()days or make changes of the price when it is out of +-5%.
Other than Nickel ,copper price is greatly rising. This is an headachy issue .Many projects are forced to terminate .
