I think all above have explain this sense of different company name,I also think it is not only in China.
In China, sometimes exporter even need another Chinese mainland company name to get USD payment, because they have no license to deal with USD remit. You can check the company name and account from bank or other way.In fact, check a company register in Hongkong is very easy, they will be list on the web.
If some one want the payment to a personal name account,it will be some problem. We use personal account is only when we ask for a small amount of samples,if this fee is remitted to company's account,we have to make a lot of work and document to get it.So we ask it as a personal remit.Of course,it is only hunders USD.Both of buyer and seller can understand and get a nice agreement.
But big ammount of payment are asked remitted by this way,I think it is dangrous. In fact,in this way,the payee can get less ammount than get from company's account, and also it is easy to escape from law.So please do not do this unless you know and trust the payee fully.

This is not an unusual practice. In fact, many accounts are in an individual's name to avoid the heavy fees the Chinese banks charge to businesses.

Replying to [wilhelm]: Dear Wilhelm, What kind of support do you think Alibaba can provide if the gold supplier makes a fraudulent deal?? I don't think Alibaba can help.
It is a business plaform and Alibaba cannot guarantee the dealings of any of it's suppliers........
If you think otherwise, please let me know. Thanks
