Replying to [Shufen jie]: Do you mean two person from different countries? normally the people from two countries, food would be a big problem. Secondly, resting time are very different, if you are chinese, you may sleep very early, but if your husband is foreigner, they get rest very later, if your English is just so so...and you always use "chinese mantality", even dry up your tear, you foreign husband will say" my dear, what happen? am I wrong"? If you are "lindaiyu" kind of girl, never think to marry a foreigner, it's too difficult for them to be sensative....

Replying to [Shufen jie]:The inter-racial or inter-national marriages have cultural shocks, lifestyle shocks, habits, food, languages and religious differences.

The more of these difhferences share in common between the pair, the better will be the chance for a successful communion together.

Some of these differences can be ironed out, and adjusted, but there are some which is extremely difficult and will take a long time to get used to. For example, I watched in television while I was in South Korea, about a young girl falling in love with an American Service man.

She said one thing that she will never change, is to eat "Kimchi" a must for the Korean lifestyle, they must have this preserved vegetable. On separate interviews with the guy, he says "No way, am I going to eat the chilly preserved vegetables." Her parents are not very enthusiastic about the relationship, and from the words said by the father, you will tell a sign of disapproval, the mother wept during the interview.

There was a Dutch Marketing Manager who frequently traveled to South Korea and married a Korean girl. They had a traditional Korean marriage ceremony, and he stayed in Pusan for about a month. Then the couple went back to Holland, to settle down in his hometown of Rotterdam. She spoke fluent English, but no Dutch, and his parents could not managed English properly.

One month later, she wanted to go home to Korea, she was sick and did not eat the bread and potato diet everyday. The lifestyle and culture was entirely different, and she asked for divorce and went home to her parents after only 3 months of marriage.

Gimme a break some of you Chinese guys.

There's more cultural difference between your Chinese Provinces ... food, language and basic way of thinking ... than you even find between British and French.

Stone the crows ... put a crowd of Beijing-ese and Cantonese in the same room and world war 3 will break out.

Heshelly, as a full blooded Aussie, I happen to love the food my Chinese missus cooks ... dumplings and pancakes made in heaven not to mention the glorious things she does with whole fresh fish, chicken and ducks. Gawd, my Aussie mates come over just to pick through left over food in our fridge. She cooks a pretty mean steak and Western baked dinner too.

And, as any wise man knows, most Chinese mainland gals are so family minded and loyal they are the world's best wives ... and darn tough minded too ... will kill for family.

You see, I just happen to love my wife of the past 15 years. This nonsense about cutural difference never entered the equation.

When two people love each other and make a genuine commitment to be united as one in marriage, surely cultural differences can be overcome. The important thing is to continue to communicate, trust, and care for one another as you go through life's ups and downs. So before plunging into marriage it is important to get to know each other really well. But in the end, listen to your heart.
