Dear Icejade:
Mumbai, new name for Bombay is one of the better place to give a look in India.
There are all kinds of food around, even Chinese food. If you are carrying your laptop, do not declare, but say it is personal use. There are some characteristics about Mumbai which is different from Madras, or New Delhi, it is the slang, and the way people speak in Mumbai.
Basically it is Hindi, but if you walk in a busy street in London and a guy from Mumbai speaks to his family member, you can single him out straight away. Mumbai has the highest per capita income in India, and the real estate price is increasing at a rate of about 20% per year. It is the city facing the West, towards the Middle East, where there is great wealth and business activities.
At the airport, you will have to go out to take taxi and go by the meter. There are several beautiful tourist spots that will be interesting to visit. People there are very friendly to visitors and hospitality is great.
Oh, I forgot, the weather is summer time all the year, but humidity is very high. Wear something light and casual if you are out for a stroll, it will be great to go out in the night.

Replying to [Icejade]:Dear Friend,
In April the weather is Summer in India. If you are planning to visit to India in April prefer cotton clothes. As informed by street smart you get a Taxi outside Airport but best way is to have Prepaid Taxi at the Airport that avoids you from hassles of negotiation of rates.Pre paid Taxis are available at all airports.
Regarding Chinese Food, In india we have all kind of Food but why dont you try spicy Indian South & north indian food along with Chinese.
People are helpful & they guide you properly.
Best of luck for your journey to India.

Replying to [Harjeet]:Thanks! Harjeet! In China, we paid the taxi fee according to how many kilometers have you took, and in different city the price for each kilometer is different, but there's the unit price noticeable posted on the taxi, therefore people will be very clear that how much you should pay when you arrive your destination, You said people should pre-pay the taxi fee, and how can i know how much is fair to the taxi driver?
I heard that the India food are very delicious, I hope I can enjoy it, if i don't, then I have to take the Chinese food, that why I ask you here.
Anyway, geat thanks for you all!

Everybody has been helpful and they have answered almost everything that you would want to know.
I'd like to add something. There are many Chinese eateries in Mumbai. Personally, I don't know the flavours that are served in China. However, the food in India is as per the requirements of the local populace, i.e., spicy and stir fried with small variations depending on the region. Therefore, if you expect the same flavour as in China, you are setting yourself up for a big surprise!
Finally, we are in Mumbai. If you need anything when you reach here, let me know.
Regards,
