To All Those who think USA cannot survive without China:

Come on!

USA can survive without China's "Made in China" label. It is very naive to think that US customers or other Global customers must and will buy cheap goods from China. There are other countries that US can browse if China's brand is not attractive anymore

This is a slightly pompus question to ask.

Of course, the USA can live without China. But the question is why would we. Can't we all just get along....there is enough crap going on with the Wars and Iran we need no problems with anyone else. We could actually use a few friends. I have done business with China for 2 years now and have grown to really like the people there.

It's interesting to see the nature of comradery among nationals of the same nation.

68% of the members on alibaba.com is poised to say that the US and the better part of the Western world would simply die or fade away if they stop buying Chinese made products. There are so many policies and bi-lateral benefits behind closed doors that most people can never phantom the implications to ban or not to ban. Therefore, banning of Chinese products in the US without due process for safety issues would highly be unlikely. The reduction of Chinese made products will only be determined by the laws of economy. Don't forget that though India is not technologically as advanced as China at the moment, however given time we will see; Made in India, Made in Vietnam, Made in Burma, Made in Cambodia and possibly Made in N. Korea more frequently than Made in China on American shelves. I can remember not too long ago, I couldn't find a single product in stores like K Mart and Wal-Mart that wasn't made in Taiwan. But know it's harder to find.

So no, the western world will not die and will go on and has been very resilient. So the real question would be would China survive if the US stops buying from China?

Replying to [singerxue]:But, according to the news reports there is a backlash to shoddy and dangerously contaminated imports from China. This backlas is building further each day as more and more products are recalled from the stores. Lead paint in childs toys, Antifreeze in toothpaste etc. More turn up every day. When the US reaches a certain point, there will be so many restrictions put in place that China will lose its best customer.
