Basically, YES, the US can live without "made in China" products, although it would be difficult at first. Why? Because we are the consumer, so we can take our business elsewhere, like India, Thailand, Vietnam, etc. to have products manufactured. Maybe a little more expensive at first, but not much, and prices will drop when volumes increase.
Still, the change will be very difficult at first.

The prices in China are rising now, and some of our products may be discontinued if we don't move production because our market won't allow for price increases.
Add the increased export tax to the rising cost of raw materials and the rising value of the RMB against the USD and Chinese products aren't as cost effective as they used to be.

Can China live without providing products to the US?

That is the real question. Buyers (US) can always find another supplier. Can the supplier (China) find buyers to replace the US? Probably not because of the sheer volume of products exported to the US.

The whole process will cycle though. China will become too expensive for the US. The US will start buying from other countries. China will become less expensive due to the loss of so much production, export tax will drop, value of RMB will drop. US will go back to China to get high quality products at the lower prices again.

Unfortunately the factors that are causing prices to rise in the US are not controlled by the factories in China. They have no control over the price of raw materials, the export tax or the value of the RMB against the USD, and the factories are the ones that suffer from the changes.

With China's export tax on the rise and the value of the RMB on the rise, the average US consumer will not be able to afford the higher cost of "made in China" products. Even a small increase becomes very expensive for consumers. Add $1.00 to each item you purchase every day that is made in China and you will soon have an empty wallet.

In the end everyone suffers because a change like this will affect the global economy.

Self dependency is the key to success and not replying on others to be self sufficient.
The whole thing with China and USA is like the story well said in The Bible where a man makes his house in sand next to the sea shore.

Well All I can say to USA is: watch out buddy the dome day is very close when you own dog (china) will bite you back.[em11]

Replying to [Admin]: yes, USA can live without China because they are both independent countries. USA has also its strength in any arena apart from being an industrial country. Even if USA keeps on buying China's products it can still live because I guess USA can produce good products same as China. And they don't need to be rivals they should unite together to be more productive and innovative because they need each other for their growth in the industry.

They can't ! China offer them many many many good quality & good price products, huge quantity offered too. Maybe they can buy some from others, but if they stop to import form China, which country can offer them such huge quantity at the same time.

Then they will have to cover more cost! Waiting for long long time, they have to discuss & find more reliable suppliers too. How they can cover these?

Business between US & China benefit all of us, but more for US, not China! [em2]

Yes, absolutely yes. Please don't forget that, USA opened the business Horizons to China and helps China like the Father helps his babe on his first steps to the world. Also traditionally Made in USA Products are much better quality than Made in China Products and this is a fact. Any more questions?

I am sure that the Amercian can survive without "made in china" products. But why should they have to, if it's better to be with.

Though there are few quality issues broke out for chinese goods, but it doesn't mean all the made-in-china are unqualified or even poisonous. Same problems happen to any other coutries too. What makes it so different when china is concerned. It's only a trick in trading.

People are not fool, they know which is good and which is bad.

But, of course, business will be affected in a short term, but cosumers will gain back their sense soon.

well in my point of view USA can survive. In business no cuntry depends heavily on another country. Its a give and take business. From another point of view can China survive if USA does not import from them.

goods ,especial Chinese Shoes and Chinese bags . It is fashionable and cheaper than the American goods. Also can make her to be the focus in Crowd.
