Of course the US could "survive" without "Made in China". The products that are exported to the USA are 99% consumer products. China does not export anything much to the USA (or Europe for that matter) that is a REQUIREMENT to keep those regions finctional.

The products "Made in China" can be produced pretty much anywhere in the world, they are not specific to China. The major reason all these products are imported from China is because of price. That is changing all the time, other asian countries are now producing these same products and are becoming more and more cost efficient.

China has done a very good job or selling itself to the world as the manufacturing powerhouse, but a number of incidents in the last few months are making importers from bith the EU and the USA rethink their sourcing from China because of perceived lack of standards in that country.

The question that is just as important is whether China could survive without the Eu and the USA, if either or both decide to impose stricter controls on the safety of goods being exported from China.

There is NO doubt in my mind that the USA can and will survive without China. The far important question is can China survive without the USA. The resilience of the American psyche will endur minor hardships such as Toasters and the like coming from other areas of the Globe quite possibly costing more, BUT not much more because countries and companies NEED to be price competitive. Because cheaper products and certain low cost housewares and gifts are manufacturered now in China, that does NOT mean that they CANNOT be made in the USA. They CAN and WILL albeit at a higher cost. What will happen to CHINA if the Trade door to the USA gets slammed shut?" Production chaos, plummeting living standards, unemployment and the like I would expect. Realistically, BOTH Countries are co-dependent on each other. CHINA needs to address its HUGE trade imbalance with the USA. This would insure no challenges to cross pacific trade would result. The USA is going into an election year, so everyone will be pointing fingers at everyone else. China needs to strengthern its Quality Control process. Perhaps thru independent labs such as Underwriter Laboratories or Consumer Union that has NO ties to Governmental Officials that meddle into everything to prove that they are doing their job. Quality, Quality and Quality has to be first in trade amongst nations. The News has been filled with stories of Chinese companies using short cut methods in production, unsafe ingredients in their products which has resulted in injury and death, lead based paints in children toys. Those individuals are being held responsible for their actions. Ignorance is NOT an excuse. Time will tell how this relationship will turn out. Hopefully, for CHINA and the USA, it will work out the BEST for BOTH!

Replying to [Admin]:The USA stoped being a productive country many years ago, now they are just consumers and re-sellers, their economy depends on china more than CHINA depends on them and this is because the labor cost of the USA is much higher than the labor cost of China so for USA companies is better to close their industries and import products from china to compete on the global market because they have more profit doing it this way than maybe producing a good.

I don't know why all China products can be cheaper than any others country? I heard that The China Government support the china by give the low interest, or the labour is cheap as well. That's why can come in easier to other countries...especially great country like USA, probably more efficient by import products from China.

I don't think current America can survive without "Made in China" products, at least in the nearest 15 years. Sure i does not mean that without "Made in China" products, America will be totally over. But, American society will be in a big mess, we know,at present, only China can make the quality products with such low price. We also understand that, no all Americans can earn 100 thousand dollars per year, the most of people who are not so rich, the real rich people any how is just a small part of the country, so the most of Americans, they need low price for daily life but good quality. Without the low price, the most family will be in financial troubles, which in another word, increase the difference between the rich and the poor, there will be more instable things and perhaps the riot and crime will both increase, the safety will be a biggest questions, if we say, the terrorism in America come from abroad at present, then it will come from America inside.
