Can the USA live without "Made in China" products?

Americans are buying more and more Made in China products, showing an increasing dependence on China.

Sara Bongiorni, author of "A Year Without Made in China" finds it nearly impossible to buy a product not from China. She finds that buying US products, instead of Chinese, can be around seven times as expensive! If imports from China were to be banned in the USA, the low and middle-income families of America would be severely affected.

What do you think?  Would you like to share your opinion with us?

Why the US can not survive without China? It is impotant that the US cooperate with China.

The US is depending on the cheaper labor cost to keep the pricing low in their country, they can have less dependency but can't totally go without.

Replying to [David Frencken]: You can buy cheap products from other countries such as Vietnam. but those products could be not cheaper than China's.
And please always keep in mind that china has competitive supply chain which you could save money from.

Replying to [Admin]:Seeing the topic,my first reaction is:why "Made in China"product is always a hot issue. Why should USA boycott chinese products?

Yes,USA can suvive without chinese product, there are cheaper products.because there is cheaper labour force in some other countries or areas. But the quality maybe is not as good.

Referring to the quality problem,I have to say American people are smart especially in business, disqualified products will not be popular in their country even if the price is low.

So,quality and price are not the reason for their boycott of chinese products .

Then, financial deficit? No,even without chinese products, there are products with lower cost entering into US market.Deficit is what globalization brings to them if american still insist on their high wage level.

So,my answer is: USA can survive without chinese products, but only survive not prosper.Chinese products are their advisable choice.

I think the USA can....still, besides China, there are many places which can provide them with cheap labors and products, but it is just difficult to develop them again......e.g. African countries, Benin, Togo...

I think US can survive without "Made in China " products too. But why there are more people who said "No"? 7 said "No" and 6 said "Yes".....

Replying to [Admin]: I think USA can live without "MIC", however their living standard will be much lower than todays obviously. For example, they have $10 in hand and could afford 2pcs t-shirts MIC, but they only can buy 1pc MIU, correct ?
