Don't touch multinational company business
Post 1 of 14
Working as seller's reps in Alibaba open up opportunities to work with other sellers from my country and region. However, multinational company decline to participate because they were bound by the laws and agreement that had been signed.

For example, I've inquired from a well established multinational computer producer after reading about inquiry in Alibaba. The finance director of that company is a friend of mine and he says there is no way that I could trade their products as they already have reps in that particular country. He mentioned that, once there is a reps in one country then their business is untouchable except thru that representative or representatives.

Same goes with the information pass by another friend of mine who holds the communication director post in a multinational tyre producer company. I had a lead from an Indonesian buyer but he said the buyer can contact their reps in Jakarta to buy their products.
In other words, once there is a reps in one particular country, their business will not be touched. I think this will create some problem for any buyer who wish to buy directly from any producer.

And for those who buys through any seller on multinational company product from Alibaba, then I suggest they should be careful because they maybe have problems in importing the goods or they might buying a second rate products.

Alibaba is a good site for connecting west and east as there are lots of products that is available to trade but maybe Alibaba's admin could disqualified any sellers who claimed access to multinational company products?

whats your idea about this, welcome reply here.

As Starian has informed , the multinational have their own method of production and selling. So we need not bother about that. And I hope if anybody is willing to sell in this platform, if it is worth and need we can offer.

I find it is a good platform for many companies(other than multi national) to expand their business. We still encourage new enterprenuers and manufctures.

We forget about multinationals.

Replying to [Business in China]:this is actually a simple issue. multinational company (MNC) has their own reps - either by country or region.
In such a way, this reps will have the responsibility to market the products in that region/country. Only they have the rights to do so. Other reps of the same MNC dont have the rights to touch any market in the region.
As this is the case, all offers on products in Alibaba can be deemed fake as there is no rights for any seller to sell any MNC products to other country/region.
The only exception is if there is no reps of the MNC in the market.

Look everyone, starian is just trying to help educate people and keep them from making a mistake and getting scammed. If you look through these forums you will often read about someone that got scammed trying to by mulitnational products. Let me break it down for you so that it is in simple terms.

If you want to buy generic (no name) MP3 players, you find a supplier somewhere that has what you want and you buy it.

If you want Apple I-pod MP3 players, you need to go directly to Apple. Joe Schmo offering them for half price out of some third world country doesn't sell real Apple I-pods, and may not even have any product to begin with.

If you want to buy generic watches, you find a supplier that has watches and buy them.

If you want Seiko watches you need to find the authorized Seiko distributor in your regioun. Joe Schmo offering Seiko watches for $5 each out of Indonesia is a scammer.

This goes for ALL multinational companies. Sony, Apple, Microsoft, Seiko, Citizen, Nike, Levis, etc., etc., etc.........the list keeps going.

The best place to start is the corporate website for the brand you wish to purchase. Alibaba is not the right place to find multinational products.

Lesson to be learned: If you try to bypass the proper routes for purchasing multinational products you will probably get scammed, and will deserve to be scammed because you allowed your greed to control you instead of sound judgement.

Do your due diligence
Don't be greedy
