Why do you want to start your own business?
Post 1 of 24

Understanding your motivation helps you to see past the romantic notions of being self-employed. The questions below have no correct answer. They are different for everyone. Just look at your answers critically. Evaluate how important your answers are in choosing to start a business.

1. Do you want better work hours? If so, what hours do you want
to work?

2. Do you want to be your own boss? If so, why do you want to be your own boss? e.g. creative freedom, current boss is a Neanderthal, better use of your skills...

3. Do you want to improve your financial condition? If so, by how much? How much income do you want every week? Every month? Every year?

4. Does your current job leave you unfulfilled? Why? Can your desire to be self-employed fill this need? How? In what ways?

5. Do you have a business idea in mind? If so, why did you choose this business?

To some extent,if you are a green hand, let us have a long time to "rescue the cap".
As for the NOT reason,it is a key to have a multi-ways for the business, esp. the planned program!
So I think it is so early for yourself business!

It is easy to plan out your goal however before you start your own business some criteria have to be consider carefully.

1) Resignation means no more salary, in most cases when someone started their own business in the first six months they cannot get their salary.
2) How much are you willing to lose, e.g. lets say if you invest US50,000 in your business, what happen if you lost all of it?
3) Have you got some reserved fund? Most of the time you’ll need much more fund from what is planned.
4) Have you got customer who is willing to support you? It is always easier when you have some customer who is willing to support you when you go by your own. I’ve seen many people stealing their boss’s customer as they already have a good relationship with the client and the client is willing to follow the person not the company.

From what I have experienced the biggest fear is not able to get your own salary and if you have a good plan and do not have much commitment I say go for it, if you really fail just go back and find a job, what you got to lose other than some money? But if you don’t try it you may regret it for the rest of your life.
