In Europe you have 4 seasons !
Winter with temperatures from -25° - +10°
Spring and autumn with temperatures about +10° - +20°
and Summer temperatures about +20° - +40° !
To feel comfortable and warm for sleeping, in spring, autumn and winter many people use seersucker or similar items.

Replying to [sriram]:Because it is a light thin fabric, generally cotton or rayon, with a crinkled surface and a usually striped pattern. This makes for a wondrful comfort when wearing or sleeping on this material. There is no lighter more free feeling then a nicley blended seer sucker material.

you have asked a very good question why seer sucker fabrics.
frankly speaking i have used seer sucker fabrics for my buyers and their answer is the designs are good, fabric texture is nice , the feel after the garment is made from the fabric is very rich looking especially for european and far east markets.
i have done garments in seer sucker especially boys/mens shirts and bermudas for my buyer.,he was satisfied with the fabric quality, design and the made up dress.
