Maria from Denmark wrote a topic as follows which triggered a hot discussion on Chinese suppliers.

http://resources.alibaba.com/topic/2371/CHINESSE_SUPPLIERS_BE_AWARE_.htm

As a local Chinese foreign trade manager with high credit standing, I can assure you that 99% of Chinese suppliers are honest and reliable. China is becoming the so called ' world factory' and ' manufacturing centre' owing to her low labour cost, which benefit billions of people worldwide every year. Countless buyers from worldwide coming to China for business opportunities every year, and some Chinese suppliers have to compete with their counterparts worldwide to meet the regulations of WTO. After China joined WTO in 2001, more and more Chinese suppliers are becoming trustworthy and reliable as they have realized that they have to improve the quality and service to compete with others.

However, some foreign buyers take it for granted that Chinese goods must be very cheap, so they cut down the prices to the least, incredibly low to make themselves profit more. In such cases, some Chinese businessman are forced to cheat you because they profit too less. If you don't have a win-win concept in your mind, you're bound to be cheated in China. There is an old Chinese saying like this: Low price doesn't match high-quality goods.

I totally agree what grigo---An Australian businessman said in a comment. Here is part of his comments on Chinese suppliers.

"Please don't put ALL Chinese Suppliers in one basket. For every BAD one there are MANY good, honest ones.I've been dealing with Chinese Suppliers for over 12 years now, and YES, I TOO got scammed by ONE years ago, (only small amount). Now I am in a position where I have representatives over there (Chinese), who find goods for me of the quality I want, the price I want, and if there were any problems, THEY FIX IT.
One of the BIGGEST problems I have found in my years of travelling over there, watching, listening, observing, is that Westerners almost ALWAYS screw the Chinese Manufacturers down in price. Thus Chinese only have ONE option in order to get the business. THEY CUT DOWN ON QUALITY. Very simple. The old saying - you get what you pay for!
For the sake of a few cents more per item, you CAN get quality. I even get quality goods from them which are SUPERIOR in quality than those made in teh local market. "

So the best solution for avoiding business scammers in China is to find a representative like me and get your Chinese supplier verified, by this way, you can have good cooperation with your Chinese suppliers!

Don't be scared in dealing with Chinese suppliers, I can help you at all times! Come on and you'll profit a lot in the near future!

Replying to [Business in China]: If what you are saying is true, can you connect me with one trustworthy supplier of electronics such as MP3, MP4, digital cameras, gaming consoles, memory cards and other accessories??? I am at the point I will never trust any supplier in China. I have been ripped off 3 times this month for thousands of dollars. I have cheaked hundreds of suppliers on these trade sites and they all turn out fake. I would love to find one supplier that offers reasonable prices and a secure form of payment that ensures we both get what we bargained for. Not too much to ask....Michael in Toronto

I totally disagrrre with that . if you accept a price , and a quality , you must give this prices and thie quality . The contrary is plain steal and swindles . However I have read a lot about chiness supplier that do not only give poor quality goods , but also missing goods , putting in the BL , and packing List false value . Is this getting waht are you buying ? I guess it is a plain swindles !!!

Yes 99% of the Chiness suplier are good , but taking into account the quantities ( millions) , some one can tell that there are more steal and swindles in China suppliers than in all europe !!!!

My experience tell me that there are morre than we really think , and Alibaba have to take care of company they support , ( given certification of confiability , or golden supplier ) and are actually swindlers.

Example of this compnay ( I can give you all the documents that you want are )

1-Shangai Fuhe Wire Mesh Co , LTD .
2-Anping Red Star Wire Mesh .
3-Tianjing china Pack IMP & ExP Co LTD .

Apparently you were once cheated by Chinese suppliers.
China has the largest number of population, we cannot provide a perfect business platform owing to the management of such a huge population. As I mentioned before, it's true some Gold memebers are also scammers owing to Alibaba's neglect of careful investigation on their members. So most of the business scammers are utilizing Internet as their tool to cheat you, this is why you can find out many business scammers in China. However, compared with honest and reliable suppliers, this figure can be nothing. Why? Most of Chinese suppliers still take the traditional way of doing business with their foreign partners by attending all kinds of famous fairs home and abroad. For example, the biggest fair--- China Commodity Canton Fair, which held twice a year, will attract tens of thousands of real suppliers in China. They have to present all their legal certification to the organizer before attending the fair. There are hundreds of all kinds of professional fairs held in China, can you imagine how many real suppliers will attend?

If you don't have a chance to meet Chinese suppliers in person, the best way, esp for your first deal with them, you'd better ask a local Chinese to verify the company that you'll deal with! The verifying fee is only 30-50 EUR!!! Why not have a try?
