Acid test for scammers, our experience
Post 1 of 7
We have found that in our attempts to engage suppliers to talk is easy.
Where we initially found that only an IP trace would weed out the geographically incorrect suppliers it did little to cut the number of persons attempting to scam.

We have not put into place a multi-point policy to "acid test" for scammers.
1. To IP trace to ensure they are where they claim to be.
2. Cut communication at the sighting of Western Union only
3. To offer the use of an escrow agent, either escrow.com or escrowaustralia.com or a law firm recommended by the district courts
4. To ask for a cash and carry price
5. To ask just once for their corporate ID number
6. To check the local phone book

Of the over 200 potential suppliers contacted, we have found about 10 that we can validate and are prepared to trade with.

I realise this may sound long winded, but the use of these simple acid tests has kept us from falling foul of those who would seek to scam.

Proudly, we are currently importing over USD20,000 a month from those who are real, thanks to Alibaba.

If you believe we have missed a step, please feel free to make mention. For those new, I hope that they may learn an easier lesson.

Hallo,

it is a nice listing, but why you not use it and have to ask for help, as in your yesterdays posting about:

Company Information required, Planet Cellular Ltd
regards
John

It is easy when using your list, to get the same result, "he is a scammer", as you now get from other members !

I think a businessman who filtered 10 good from over 200 suppliers since his participation to Alibaba at 22.August 2006, now making over US$ 20.000 monthly conversion, with help of Alibaba, could do a requst alone ! Or did your experience come last night ?
