In 2000, I graduated and joined my uncle’s company; he was dealing with “ceramic tile” business.
His business was not very good, because his tiles were too much expensive,
That day my uncle was not in company, I was with his assistant, two men came to our office,
They look very respectful, they gave me their name card, on name card it was showing “purchasing manager of ***hotel”, and they told me they found our tiles are very good quality, they have interest. I gave them my uncle’s name card.
After several days, those people contacted my uncle, invited him to a city called “Yancheng”, My uncle was very happy, he went alone, those people invited my uncle to a very expensive restaurant, they took most expensive food, finally my uncle paid for it.
They were happy, and told my uncle they would gave my uncle order, but they must take some commission for giving order, my uncle promised to give them commission.
Later they invited my uncle for several times, and finally they got “commission” from my uncle,
I found those scammers start to do “international business”, I hope you would learn a lesson from my uncle…
Also tell us some fraud story about yourself in life and business….

That's shocking, and I hope they catch those guys,
I'm getting around 4-8 scam emails in my Alibaba mailbeox each day at present offering me all kinds of things - I would like to know how these people are so easily able to setup accounts on Alibaba and do such a thing?
I'm constantly tagging them as "SPAM" and assume everyone else is doing the same, so why aren't Alibaba deleting their profiles?

I am absolutely disgraced at the amount of liars and cheaters in the world and especially on Alibaba. This site is supposed to be reputable and safe for traders but it is just a den of thieves. I have started my own business recently and i was full of excitement and i trusted what businesses were saying to me because i am honest myself. I have been scammed twice in 2 weeks and lost all my money. Are there any real suppliers out there? I have gone through literally hundreds of emails of fake scammers and still have not found ONE real supplier of electronic goods.

You are right. Most of people on Ali Baba are individuals. Cheaters, liars and fiefs they are.
Also, a legitimate company from mainland of China never have prices for their products. Do you know WHY? They want to see where a potential buyer is located and then 'ADJUST PRICE ACCORDING TO HIS/HER COUNTRY LIVING STANDARD. That is a really fact. Is somebody try to tell me that I am wrong, then read my (short) story:
I tried to export from China to USA art works (oil of canvas and ink paintings). The quotation was always missing from Ali Baba's website and when customers from West required prices, they was up 100% - 150% to prices if another customer from, let say, Pakistan or China requested... Just when I was ready to give up, somehow I meet one of Chinese famous artist. We get married (2005) and living few months in USA (South NJ) and few months in Xiamen (China). She introduced me in the NEW CHINESE BUSINESS nightmare, where even parents cheat they own children, just to make MORE MONEY... Cheating, lying and stealing has become Chinese new illness.
Now, I have wife which is exceptionally good artist (oil on canvas) and we are buying Original Ink Paintings in China, for a fraction of cost of what all these members from Ali Baba offered and tried to sale to me before... Huh, we are thankful to Ali Baba for our beautiful marriage.
I am using Ali Baba to sale our paintings to the whole World, but NEVER TO BUY ANYTHING FROM CHINESE SUPPLIERS.
Let me know what if I can help you. I always believed the old saying: "One hand washes another!" other wise, GOOD LUCK.
Rudy in China.

Replying to [heshelleyatgmaildotcom]:I very much enjoyed your article but am sorry to hear about your uncle being scammed. recently I have been scammed of several thousand dollars from gold suppliers and trustpass companies advertising on Alibaba. I am amazed that Alibaba continues to allow these companies to use their website even after many buyers have complained about being scammed from them. I think alibaba continues to allow them to use their website is because they continute to make money from them through advertising

Replying to [stella ]:about your comment to Rudy in Xiamen. You don't know what you are talking about. He is right on the target. I have seen prices from the same company be different depending on where you live --- and you can too. You set up a new account on Alibaba stating that you are from a poor country then send an email to the same company you buy from before asking for their prices. When they find out that you are from a poor country, you can buy the same thing for a lot less money. Try it

DEAR "STELLA", IT LOOKS YOUR
"french is little rusty". We in USA don't use "french" words as "b.s." an instead we have a proof to our opinion. Anyway, here is another comments (non Chinese member of Ali Baba) about Ali Baba.
Here we go, my dear "stella".
CARLOZNZ NZ
Where do we start???????
1. Alibaba, it is a known fact that you make thousands of dollars from your site..... Gold and Trustpass members........why dont you invest some of this money where it should go (Looking after the buyers and weeding out the rogues)
2. Who is in charge of FRAUD in the company?? These people should all be fired........you can give me the job with a team of 30 and I will have this whole site and its rogue members cleaned up......
3. What are you doing about the scammers?? It should only take the push of a Delete Button to get rid of them, but before you do that, each member must go to the local law enforcement with documents for their COMPLETE details before they join you. This may seem drastic, but at least you will give the rest of the world some confidence. Before you delete the scammers, inform the local authority........it will be a simple phone call.
4. Why dont you make yourselves liable for any rogue trades?? This will give everyone confidence that you are taking the bull by th horns! This will make your process tighten up so much that it will be like fort knox. Yes, you will lose a lot of members, but you will gain trust of the international world and you will do quality trade!
5. Look after your customer..........NOT just make money! Your customers are not Gold and Trustpass members......your customer are US..........without us buying products from your members, your members are nothing.......we have the money, not them!
6. Who are your field agents wiping out fraud? Do they exist? Why do we have the same old problems time and time again??? Is it all about the MONEY???
7. Be careful of sitting happy for now..........someone is thinking of making the trading world more secure in china without bribes, fraud or cheating........they will overtake you in an instant.......if you dont believe me, see how big MySpace and YouTube got in 3 years.
8. Have ratings for your sellers...........every other site in the world does this........ if you dont, it shows that you are aware that there are some really crap suppliers out there.......see my note on step 7.
9. Take charge of your business.......to be honest, I dont think you are running it anymore........it is being run by suppliers.......and alot of them are paying you dirty money
10. Sleep well at night.........when you do this, you know that you are an honest business........if you are waking up and 2am in the morning with sweat, you know something is wrong
11. Respect your mother!

Sorry, to hear for your lost of money but you are right with your post to "STELLA".
Look, I lived in 28 different countries four continents and never - ever have seen so big mess as in Ali Baba... if "wise boys from Brooklyn" - NYC have "running" Ali Baba, they would cut few heads of "golden suppliers" and whatever they are calling the other cheaters.
Hey, if you need anything, let me know. For time being we are in China and we will be back home for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
