Food for thoughts - the zebra
Post 1 of 5
A leopard can't its spots, as the saying goes.

How about a zebra? Is the zebra a white horse with black stripes or is it a black horse with white stripes?

Once upon a time, I, Chuang Chou, dreamt I was a butterfly, fluttering hither and thither, to all intents and purposes a butterfly. I was conscious only of my happiness as a butterfly, unaware that I was Chou. Soon I awaked, and there I was, veritably myself again. Now I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly, dreaming I am a man. Between a man and a butterfly there is necessarily a distinction. The transition is called the transformation of material things.

Beautiful piece by -- Zhuang Zi.

Just a side-kick.. Before the butterfly starts to flutter her wings, she was a big fat caterpillar, munching and munching away the green leaves and gathering as much food as she can into her body, so as to have enough energy to spring out as a butterfly. Then after, she will weave herself up in a co , to stay dormant for the metamorphosis.

Did you hear of the words "Dé-jã vu" ? Its origin is French, meaning the feeling that you have previously experienced exactly the same thing as you are experiencing now. I have these feelings and thinkings at times, when I felt that I was a teacher before, and have taught my students this subject, there was an outstanding student who almost always gives the best possible answer. Other times, when some medical practitioner speak about the medical conditions of a patient, I felt that I knew all the facts and have been in practice before.

So, down to the question: The Zebra is a Black Horse to some people who see black as beautiful, and a White Horse to others who see white as beautiful.

Hi!

The Zebra got to be a ''Black Horse''.....with white stripes.....[em7]

Thus, the phrase...'Zebra Crossing' (an area of the road marked with broad white lines for people to cross)....[em14]

At large, all roads...are black (here in India)[em12]

How is this different from the idea that some people see a glass as half empty, others see it as half full? In the half-and-half gl *, though, we are talking about a pessimist and on optimist..

I heard of a particular culture that when you hold your hand up and spread your fingers and ask,  "how many  do you see," the person will say "four", because what they see as the things to count are the spaces between the fingers. (I won't vouch for the veracity of this.[em10]
