The posters here are from around the world. I'm interested to see which sports people like to play or watch.

In Hong Kong, I know that playing badminton, table tennis and basketball is very popular, and watching English Premier League Football (soccer) is the most popular spectator sport.

I noticed that Foow is American, however his image is the logo of the Australian rugby team!

My favourite sport to watch and play is Rugby.

Football and Hockey - I find the meaning of life in these two games and that is why I like these games. I feel, liking and disliking of everyone for any game must be having some basis. I had read some time back which highlighted the philosophical/spiritual side of the game and that further strenghtened my liking for these games. The gist of that article was somewhat like this:

The ball is individual’s ego. Team members are family and friends. Trust in teammates is the foundation of a good relationship and helps the players win the match of happiness. The opposition players are obstacles like anger, pride, hatred that must be overcome to reach the goalpost. The goalpost is the universal consciousness to which a person must ultimately submit the ego to achieve true bliss. The coach is the guru who teaches the way and the player learns from the mistakes on the field. The referee is the law of karma (action) that reinforces the correct rules for playing. Like a player who can maneuver the ball on the field, a person has the free will to choose his thoughts, words and actions.

The football (& hockey as well) as a game is a sort of meditation on the run. A players is always “in the moment” for the entire duration of play. The player has no thought of past and future, as all the opportunities are seen and created in the “now”.

For those who might wonder why soccer (football to most) is NEVER going to be a big sport in the USA..... Even with Becks over here. This guy would survive less than 5 minutes on ANY sporting field ever played on! Does anyone know what league this is by any chance?

Churchill, you should get a kick out of this.

This has to be the strangest ref ever to officiate a game!
