If you want to visit China and buy goods, ask your coordinator in China to send you two documents
1. Invitation Letter
2. Letter from Commercial Chamber.
Keep a copy of these documents with you as you may be asked for at inwards-customs as a NEW requirement.
You also need to inform customs about the details of person/company you are visiting.

from The Government Deparment (Foriegn Ministry Commerce

Replying to [int786]: You are right, this letter must be from Commercial Chamber (wa call it Chamber of Commerce and Industry).
Now the requirement is that you bring a copy of these documents with you but at present they are not too much strict on this.
I reached China before yesterday, one person only reminded me. But they did not check it.
Gradually they will start asking it as a condition.
