If you want to visit China and buy goods, ask your coordinator in China to send you two documents:
1. Invitation Letter
2. Letter from Commercial Chamber.
Keep a copy of these documents with you as you may be asked for at inwards-customs as a NEW requirement. You also need to inform customs about the details of person/company you are visiting.

Replying to [int786]: You are right, this letter must be from Commercial Chamber (wa call it Chamber of Commerce and Industry).
Now the requirement is that you bring a copy of these documents with you but at present they are not too much strict on this.
I reached China before yesterday, one person only reminded me. But they did not check it.
Gradually they will start asking it as a condition.

Replying to [CTC Pakistan]: A letter of invitation is sufficient in most cases. Our customers get visa on basis of our invitation letter only.

Dear Sir,
Thank you for the information regarding visit to Chinese factory.
However, this is not the rule for every country, it could apply only for some countries to obtain the visa for entry into the country.
To us Singaporeans, we do not require these papers to go and visit a factory in China, or in USA or even to visit an exhibition in Hambuirg, Germany. This is not the norm for all countries.

In my experience ,nothing is needed .
The only time that confronted me proved to be fraudulent.The five men came from Nigeria and asked me for the invitation letter of our comany as well as of the government.Later it was found out from searching of internet they were trickers.
