Murali from what I understand you have been contacted by a buyer in Hunan province in China. My advice is to be very careful.
There is a scam which can come from any where in China but seems to see a lot of action in Hunan. Here is how it plays itself out:
1. You get a contact from a buyer that is very interested in your products, has a large order to offer, and needs a quick shipment;
2. You get invited to China to sign contracts etc and finalize the order;
3. Upon your visit they will hit you up for gifts and expensive courtesies for them and their 'bosses' to help ensure that the order goes through;
4. There is no order and you will only find this out after you have returned to your own country minus what ever you have spent on them.
My advice is to:
a. let the supplier know that your company cannot buy gifts or make any payments until the order is signed and an LC in place. Tell them that is a company regulation and it cant be waived;
b. check out the buyer as far as whether they have a track record of buying and selling the product that you are selling. If they have such big orders they must have some track record that you can refer to;
c. ask them specific technical or product related questions that they should know the answers to if they are familiar with your products.
Good luck.

Hi
I have such a experience beginning of this year where a large order enquiry was send to us with 'confirmed' order, as mentioned , they ask us to visit them and seems very urgently that the boss have short stay and want to meet us for collebration with them and their Russia counterparts.
In the end there was no news after Chinese New Year..could they have found someone else?

Quoting from [eButiQ]:You can verify these info in the Chinese State Administration for Industry and Commerce. The link is http://www.saic.gov.cn/. Hope it's helpful for you. Any question, don't hesitate to contact me via TM. I am mike from shenzhen, china.
Does anybody know how to verify the:
- TAX ID VAT number
- COMPANY REGISTRATION NUMBER
of company based in China?
- Is there any national registration list of Chinese companies?
- Maybe someone knows any institution or private company, which could check the identity of the company based in China by above mentioned numbers?
Any advise appriciated
Where do you enter the company information (reg no, name etc.) on www.saic.gov.cn for validation?
