Discussion forums or Monologue forums?
Post 1 of 7
Come on, guys! Lately it looks like our forums are "monologue forums". Look at the listings; hardly any post gets a reply. I know that there are certain "factors" that keep us from posting, but still so we could do better. Let us hear everybody's voice!

The forums like building materials seems to be highly technical. Not everyone can be master in such specialized topics. Though we all are associated with building materails either while repairing our houses or building our new houses, but hardly go into so deep into the subjects. We all are depenedent on our engineers and simply follow their recommendations. We only know which brand is better whether it is cement or paint or anything else. Brands of the building materials are somewhat a localized subject as they are mostly produced by the companies for domestic consumers keeping in mind their requirements and the climatic conditions. So contributing views here might be a difficult job for most of the members.

You have posted one article on "Macro Defect Free cement". I liked that article but have nothing to add as I have no technical capability in this subject. Quite possible that other fellow members would also be feeling the same way. These kind of research papers are useful for those who are either manufactureres of cement as they are in a position to convert research outcomes into reality or those who are engaged in the R&D in the subjects. Even Civil engineers are benefited by such technical papers as they understand the subject and are always in search of new developments. So, in this whole scenario, a common person may not find place to subscribe his/her expertise or views. This is what I feel.[em1]

You are totally right with what you are saying, and that of course raises the question why Alibaba installed this forum. To me it looks like Alibaba knows that there are some people with a certain knowledge in building materials who either want to promote their products/ideas (in general terms, not skipping the obligation to post trade leads in the appropriate places) or are expecting input to develop or adjust their products according to customer demand.

What I was and will be writing doesn't necessarily follow this line of thought. It's just an attempt to keep the discussion flowing until others finally chime in. Maybe then the contents of the topics will be totally different, who knows.

But given that the market for building materials is pretty big, especially if we include decorative items, there must be somebody who can contribute something meaningfull, though not necessarily very technical. And that's what I'm still waiting/hoping for.

Maybe it's because of Christmas and year's end, but it's definitely too "slow" here. - Anybody interested in chatting about alternative cements? There is some kind of magnesium phosphate cement that... [em1]

      Dear Adimec,

Thanks for the concern,  actually  we are watching, hearing and  listening all audiences.

in my opinion,  there are a few of  topics are quite  interesting  ones and  got responses.

for instance:  Germec's  & Cyber chap's topic  about  low cost house, alternative building

materials, and also  francis teo with the alternatives materials etc

if any  that  you may  have  idea/article, it would be grateful to let it be posted in this forum.

      your participation  are highly appreciated.

      regards,
