In Defence Of Cut-Copy-Paste
Post 1 of 7
Dear All,

This invitation may sound funny.

But life is like that.

I invite all the philosphers, theorists, writers, ameteur writers, and lazy thinkers, to come in defence of cut-copy-paste job when we write or prepare a business plan.

It is off-shoot of computer usage.

If there is no Cut-Copy-Paste we will be typing the entire text again.

I freely admit that I cut, copy and paste whenever I feel like it. I just don't belong to the (quote) "philosphers, theorists, writers, ameteur writers, and lazy thinkers" (unquote) to be able to give you a good reason. I guess it's just my innate lazyness. [em1]

Replying to [Ganapathie]: The reasons why cut copy paste is great:

-You cannot type all the time
-If you don't know typing skills, you have to count the letters and then type. -There are many people who are doing the same.
-For CEOs and managers, secretary or his trusted employee will do all the data collection and the boss justs copy paste the same.
-If you want to quote obscure texts in different language, you cannot type.
-Laziness is sometime a pleasurable thing, as Germex said. And out of laziness we cut-copy-paste
-Quite simply, Cut-copy-paste is a easy job.

I hope that henceforth people do not underestimate others who do cut copy paste job. I was vilified by members for doing a innocous thing of quoting a D.Millman words which I did with some good intention.

Let there be praise for c-c-p
Let happiness blossom in mind of people who do c-c-p.
Copying is a honourable job. Did we not do in schools and colleges?
Let the world be free of slavery to creativity.

Shakespeare would not have had the dilemma: "To Copy or Not to copy?"

Just a little observation: nobody even tried to vilify you. You are one of our trading buddies. In any case we didn't share Dan Millman's opinion, but that was it. You know the expression, "don't shoot the messenger" and we stick to it. [em1]

Replying to [adimec]: I was vilified not for the quote. But for doing cut-copy-paste.[em8]

Gan,
You stated in that post:

'I hate moderators. (Not those good hearted moderators of these forums in Alibaba)".

That was going to get some flak from a few at least. Moderates are generally considered a better thing than radicals..... You can be moderate in your life without being a "loser".

Copy/paste is fine, as long as when you qote someone you attribute the quote (as you did).... It was the contect that created the furball, not the fact that you copy/pasted it.

There's no reason why we shouldn't move with the times. Cut-copy-paste is one of the best tools for busy executives and businessmen. I use it without even thinking, but of course we ought to project orginality where it really matters. For instance I've just completed a business plan, and it was done practically in a matter of hours because of c-c-p. But of course the real substance of the plan and much of the content write-ups has to come from us, along with all the required financials. Those items have to be based on realistic figures, and defensible. Strategies and assumptions must still make sense.

c-c-p in my opinion is not even a lazy man's way of doing things, it's a practical and smart thing to do, if it's the end result that counts. In my case I managed to raise funds, and that to me is a positive end result that matters.
