I wanted to give everyone a tip that has saved me an enourmous amount of money. I call China very often (at least 3 times daily) and up a few months ago it was costing me a fortune. Then I found out about this number that allows you to call China from the US FOR FREE!
712-858-8047
You dial it before you call China, listen to the voice telling you to "please enter your destination number now," then enter the number in China you wish to call and it connects you. If you have free long distance on your phone plan (most plans now a days do), the call is 100% free! I did some research and I found out it works the same way as E-Fax works. The calls are routed through Iowa, then shot over to China. It has saved me a ton of money since I started using it. It also works for calls to cell phones in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Seoul. Just passing the good word along :)

Replying to [jetsetter]:I did a search on this number and found that it was owned by:
SUPERIOR TELEPHONE COOP
705 Second Avenue
PO BOX 137
Superior, IA 51363
Phone: 712-858-4591
I called the company and asked about the number and inquired about their rates to China. They said the number belonged to "Great Lakes Communication". I've used calling services where you dial a number like this one and all it does is serve as an independent LD carrier. After a month or two it shows up on your phone bill as an independent carrier LD charge. I'm curious, have you used this number for over a month?
I'd hate to get a phone bill 1 or 2 months from now with outrageous charges just because I didn't look it up. Also "EFAX" is free for the first 30 days, but then charges you monthly thereafter.

Replying to [Rizzob]:You only get charged LD to Iowa according to your phone plan. If you have free long distance on your phone plan, then its free. If not, you will be paying LD charges for your calls to Iowa according to your plan, not to China.
I have been using this number for over 2 months.

Replying to [Steelion]: No, sorry. It only works for calls from the US to China because it routes calls within the US first, then shoots it over to China. But, tell your clients in the U.S about this. They will love you for saving them money!

Replying to [jetsetter]: I think the best way to save calling charge is find a good partner in China...Then you can just communicate with him only, then he can push all of your business forward for you...It's worth! I think so!
