Post 1 of 4
[em19]Friends if we want to import Scrap how much is the chance we get duped & how can we identify that the scrap is of good quality without any sand/mud or impurity. Which are the testing/inspection agencies that we can consider for right inspection of scrap.

From my understanding:
Scrap come from one of two sources --
NHI dealers
or
Non-NHI dealers

NHI by far has the market share of the scrap market, in addition to it's own shipping line, gold mines etc. They are a huge privately owned company. It seems the prices from a non-nhi dealer is a bit higher, however nhi also has some stringent requirements before you can close a deal with them.

I found an article written about NHI which has their requirements. Here's the link: http://forum.vorras.net/construction/?read=7149

As for inspection services, google it. You'll find quite a few companies that inspect scrap and such before loading.

Hope this helps

If you are able to, I would grab a quick flight over to the supplier, and check out the product myself. Now if you are not able to do so, then a inspection agency is your next best choice. If you are dealing with someone in the USA, I would recommend you go to www.yellowpages.com and search up a inspections companys in the suppliers area.
