Should we charge for Sample?

Dear Friends,
Many members in the forum have expressed their views that samples ought to be charged in order to avoid fraud. however, it is said that free samples is a mean to attract potential customers and due to the very tight competition, we should not charge for sample.
What's your view?

frankly i will charge, in order to avoid fraud....
of coz, for some very trivial products, it is not good for us to charge.....but for products that worth a lot, we should charge.....right?

Replying to [honindco]:Samples cost money .. if you want to give money away ,thats up to you .. Just look at ebay and see the free samples for sale there , Premotion and free samples are 2 diferant things .. we send our good buying customers a sample of our new product , so they can see the quality , and we also give our customers a free gift sample when we call face to face ,for there wife or daughter ect ,, but never give free samples because some one said , give me a FREE sample and i will send you an order ,,

Yes, to avoid fraud, at least ask for freight collect account number so that even if you send sample free of cost, let buyer pay for courier charges.

Replying to [honindco]: Making the sample product is really about the only way buyers are going to contract with companies. The sample is an added cost of doing business. Thank You.
