A local report says the turnover of Laptops surpassed Desktops for the first time in my city and an expert makes an conclusion that Laptops will take place of Desktops in the future. What do you think of his statement on this topic? [em1][em1]

Replying to [Business in China]: Desktops are comfortable for any design or any long winding work. Because for office work, desktops are the best bet, especially for those people whose work is within office only. For business development and household use, laptops will be most sought after.

I believe this to be true as well. Laptops have the same functions as desktops with the added advantage of portability. This is becoming more so as components within the machines become smaller with time, with stronger capabilities and cheaper. Desktops have to emerge with somewhat different and more unique features to justify their continued existence or they will be phased out.

Actually I dont think it will be long where not even the laptop will be the rave.  I think it will be more like a 12" x 12" x 1/2" tablet PC weighing in at ounces instead of pounds due to the recent explosion of nano technology and the ability to manufacture circuits on a thin cellulose sheet.  Soon  technology will be talking Angstroms instead.

I think laptops/power notebooks are better options nowadays, and in the future may even replace desktops. It's to do with being portable, especially if laptops can someday be made to last, say a couple of months, instead of a couple of hours running on batteries.

I agree with your opinion.

Desktop i s easy and cheaper to use, at the same price, buy a desktop means you have high performance. and laptops have small cubage bring on easy to be broken.

I am a computer%Network Design supplier in Suzhou, i am interesting in Digital equipment but not Chinese Design. I like nature.

Replying to [Ganapathie]: I agree with you. Notebooks are good for traveling Businessmen, but Office Staff will still use a PC, since:
1. easy to upgrade
2. Bigger Monitors
3. More Storage Space
4. More RAM

I am using a Notebook, since I work at Customer Sites a lot, but I also have a PC in my Office used for Grafik Software, Web Application Development and many other Applications, which I am not urgent need at my customers site.
