A Chinese proverb goes, “no business man is not cunning”(wushang bujian), Well do you think we should be more cunning or more simple in business?

hello, i think in this proverb, cunning mean that business man is in persuid of most benifit with his all wisdom. Whatever simple or honest businessman is trying to get most benifit. So do what you can do to seek the benifit , of course, you must obey the laws;that is ok.

cunning or simple? depends. need to adapt. for example, if i deal with chinese, i know to be cunning... because i know that is part of chinese business culture. but if i'm dealing with america, i'll be simple and direct, because that's their business culture.
so i would say either cunning or simple, depending on who you're dealing with.
