Why don't many manufacturers use Paypal?
Post 1 of 22
Hello to my good friends all around the world,
I'm getting increasingly frustrated about the lack of Chinese companies accepting Paypal, I know that many of you have your own personal reasons for not accepting Paypal, however as a buyer Paypal would be the best option for me for these reasons:
1. The way my business works, I get paid through Paypal from my clients and as such I have 5,000 GBP ready to spend through Paypal at any one time, instead of earning Paypal interest I'd rather spend on an order!
2. The manufacturer receives payment straight away and can start making my order whilst it's being transferred into their ****. (Only ship when the transfer has been completed)
3. Safer than Western Union, after many transactions using Western Union and never being scammed I'm confident in this method of payment but only for companies I have dealt with by T/T. I'm always looking out for new suppliers and I sometimes don't take the step because they only accept Western Union.
So everybody, has anyone actually found a decent supplier in China that accepts Paypal? Because I'm starting to run out of places to look (I'm not talking about the replica clothes, watches, video games who accept Paypal - Most are scams or fakes).
The MAIN reason I want to deal with Paypal is because it takes 7 days to transfer to my **** in the United Kingdom and then 2-3 days to pay by T/T. As everyone knows, time is money and I'd rather get an order on quick and not have to worry about the timescale.
What's everyones thoughts on this, have you found any suppliers? If so I'd love to know where!
If you are a reputable Chinese manufacturer who can supply references and accept Paypal please get in contact I'd love to hear from you! It doesn't matter what you supply (apart from clothes, watches, video games), I am willing to discuss with you further.
Kind Regards to all any many thanks in advance for replying to this post.

Hi everyone,
Many thanks for all your replies.
I've now got someone who will accept Paypal in Taiwan and then T/T to Mainland China so it's all good (I've dealt with him before so I know he wont run away!). What I needed it for was quick payments to get samples from new suppliers, now I've got this agreement I can do this quick - time is money!
There are good arguments to manufacturers not accepting Paypal, I realise now that it's a big risk to them and more fees/charges, which I never knew before so thank you to everyone who made this clear.
One thing I do hope for in the future is that someone brings in a Worldwide automated money transfer system, in this day and age you would of thought that you could transfer money instantly to anyone in the World and not have trouble withdrawing to your bank account. I think this would make business much more quicker and efficient, also if you built in an 'Escrow' service into that system then that would be great!
Again, thanks to everyone who's replied, I've learnt alot so thank you!

IMO paypal and moneybookers.com are good payment processors.
Asians should be really more flexible with this topic!
I am a seller for ACAi juice and mostly buyers send money to my moneybookers.com account and everything works fine.
I recommend highly these kind of payments!
Regards!

I use paypal to purchase small items but would NEVER use it for when i am selling, yes it is quick but there is no protection for seller.
If i sell something and the buyer decides they have changed their mind they get their money back and keep the item, all they have to do is say 'not as described'.... and they dont have to prove their claim.
cheers

paypal takes off way too much money.....Plus they limit the amount of transactions you can do. Small buyers think that just becuause a company doesnt use paypal, that they are scammers....Paypal is a poor choice to do huge transactions through....Good for the Buyer Bad for the Seller.....

Steven - surely all the methods listed above are worldwide money transfering systems. The only thing lacking is that they are not 100% full proof, nor free to use. How would you suggest one would operate.
You said in your OP that you would rather spend your paypal income on payments, rather than converting it to cash and great cost. You have to realise that Chinese don't have that option, unless, like you, they can find somewhere to spend their paypal income. But eventually, the paypal money has to be converted into real money...or PayPal just get very rich!

I agree with you , paypal is very safe payment style, but only few supplier in China use this, I think the reason is
1, people in China is not familiar with paypal.
2, it is not veryconvenience to apply paypal account, it is not pop in China. generally need to have an oversea bank acccount, so it is not convenience.
3, high commission charge.
If you need purchase some ,we has cooperate company who has paypal account in USA, we agree paypal and we supplier many products too. you can contact me if you need help. this is charlie. remember me.
